This is creeping up, but a good cause that I'm going to try and participate in...

What we do:

Waywegos partners with Ability First in Pasadena to take physically and mentally challenged children on an off road adventure! We end their off road experience at Brookside Park at the Rose Bowl for a BBQ, Games, Crafts and FUN!!!

FUN will include:

Tiger and Clown are volunteering and will be playing duck-duck-goose, head’s up 7-up and other fun games with the kids.

Crafts will include:

Colored Macaroni Necklaces
Beaded Bracelets

talked to the event planners, and due to the nature of the event they will not issue fix it tickets, and another cool note, the trail is only open for this run, it is normally just used by hikers/mountain bikers.

This isn't a difficult trail, and is more to get the kids out and have fun...

I don't think you're out for speeding tickets etc, but you could email a copy to Bert at the email provided and he could tell you specifically before you commit

Would be ideal if you can give them as much notice as possible so they can arrange to have more kids to go

It's an annual trail ride Randy, but I'll keep everyone posted over other events like this as I find them

I don't know why, but I just got a text from one of the organizers that this run has been cancelled, I'll talk to him later this evening and post up as to why...

I hope it gets rescheduled

This was just posted....

2013 CAROLE HARRIS MEMORIAL KIDS RUN!
We regret to inform all of you, that the “Kids Run” is being postponed.

The postponement of this event is due to a liability issue
brought up by Ability First at the corporate level; even though our perspective
is that we are volunteers helping with an Ability First Annual Event, which is
staffed by Ability First staff, etc. What has worked for the last 36 years no
longer is being applied to this or future events. The kids are the ones
who are losing out.

Their concerns, which emerged over the last 10 days, are that
this is not under their control and planning, and makes the event a Waywegos
Event, not an Ability First event. Thus liability for any and all matters would
be placed upon the individual members of the club as well as the club itself. We
looked into event insurance, but it is not conclusive of everything that
happens, and insuring us taking kids for a ride in Jeeps raises alarms with all
insurers. We would be liable for everything and anything, and event insurance
would not shield us from such liability 100%.

We attempted to work out revisions in the waivers, have provided
them with verification of your driving records, proof of insurance, etc., but
this has not met the crux of the issue.

The Waywegos Club has participated in this event for 36 years,
but I am told that it has not always been with Ability First children.

A great deal
of planning and effort has gone into this event as well as considerable expense
by the club. It is our intention to reschedule the event, and if necessary, to
take a different group of children.

This will be discussed at our next chapter meeting, June 11.

Sincerely,
Paul Rourman and Bert Szathmary, event chairpersons
