I can't remember dates, but Huckfest will be starting at the Santa Maria Speedway, if not being permanently held there this year. As soon as I get more info, I will post it up.

Now, this is one part of the event or maybe the main and only part as I have gather so far. Keeping an eye on the Huckfest facebook page to see if they are still holding it on the dunes still or not. Will post updates as soon as I see more info.

Yup. People are upset with the cost. Apparently the cost has gone up for the permit...

Let the whining begin! I bet they paid a pretty penny to close the beach, so I'm not surprised at the higher cost. Even a Dodger game costs a pile of money for the family so how do people think Huckfest can grow and continue for free?

Paige and I are in and hope to gather once again for BBQ & Margs.

It's a damn big jump but I'm sure their costs jumped, too. Last year the Rangers, Park Maintenance and even local PD's were pretty blown up. They had no idea it was going to be so huge. Fortunately, as far as know, there were no serious issues. Only huge traffic jams and disappointed fans that were turned away at the gate. It truly was a sight to behold. The beach/dunes were completely insane. I"m pretty sure they'll be fencing off another good chunk of dunes before then to put up temporary fencing for an experiment... yay!

Jim, I'm in for both. Assuming I can get tickets. I imagine they will go pretty damn fast.

I was referring to the hucktour at the speedway. Same weekend as the Nationals, I'm betting it will be packed.

Yeah, I just figured that out. I think I'll pass on the speedway. I've driven by it a thousand times and I've never thought it was somewhere I needed to be.... Maybe I'll change my mind but I doubt it.

Based on the whining I wouldn't think they'd go fast but Paige didn't want to wait. We're definitely in.

I think a lot of people who didn't go last year will want to now.... and fill the void of the few who think it's overpriced.

I wouldn't mind paying 3x as much so long as they pulled their head out and followed the advice I offered on RDC and their FB page:

Hopefully its better then 2013...input to make it better for all paying money to see something good:

-jump participants need to go back to back to back without breaks unless there is an accident/breakage. 30 second tops between jumps and maybe a monster truck ho down for intermission prior to the "finals" of each class.

- to facilitate the above -there needs to be several classes added: a stock truck class limited to 31" tires, stock suv class limited to 31" tires, side by side class, dirtbike class, quad class and stock run what ya bring class (minivan, corolla, rx7, whatever)

- a dozer to pull broken shitboxes off the course fast. No diagnoses, no attempt to fix, hook it up and move it out.

-hill needs to be a straight shot, not a diagonal with off camber landing.

-a long downhill run with the start at greater elevation then the jump is

-hill needs a transition at the base that does not bottom the majority of trucks out putting them at full droop when they leave the jump

-hill needs to be runnable with less than a v8 powered rig

Put on a good show. Impress those now paying much more to attend, not leave them bored twiddling their thumbs.

The Bronco is getting close to testing and we're really looking forward to Huckfest this year. Truth is we like the pre & post camping and hanging out just as much or more than the 'Fest itself. Paige and I are looking forward to another GFB BBQ but the cost of this year's show may keep some folks away.

Steve said he was going to be in.....who else is planning on it? Damn it's hot here today - wish I was there now with Steve, Bondo and the others, but they may not be on the beach.

It's hot and humid in Santa Clarita so Little Big Town was the ticket at the OC Fair last night. Still nice down here today so another night's stay is in order.....just to take the Fair in with a few brews.

The coastal breeze reminds Paige & I of Pismo and after a Summer at the bottom of the low desert, Huckfest won't be here too soon. Excuses aside, I hope you cats are getting ready to go!
