We can use BFG Pits- 153.395 for our hailing frequency. We can decide what to use on the run once we meet up.

I will also monitor HAM 146.550.

Don't forget your whips (the flag kind) for the dunes.

I think we will have a few chances to stop for food along the way but I would suggest having a backup plan in case we end up doing lunch on the trail.

What is the gas situation look like? I am only farmiliar with Ocotillo really. How frequent will gas be available for the trip.

We will be lucky if we can get 100 miles of dirt in between gas stops. The longest stretch is from Plaster City to The Travertine Grill using the Cut Across Trail. The last time I was at the Blue Inn they were not selling gas. Not sure of their status now.

It kind of depends on how fast the group moves. A faster pace will allow more dirt miles for bombing around Ocotillo Wells and the dune areas. No pressure, we will run at speeds where everyone is comfortable. I'll try to keep up.

The only other thing I would mention regarding fuel is, if you have not run in the dunes, just keep in mind the sand sucks a lot of gas. We will mostly stay on the Sand Highway so it really should not be a problem. Parts Girl says her truck does not like the dunes.

So how many trucks going total now?

Would you mind posting the plan again and including a rough timeline I have people that want to meet up possibly.

Anticipating 6-7 trucks and a motorcycle or two.

The part of the plan that is not rough is the meet up time. 0803 hrs. We have alternate meeting points available for later times but nobody has said they want to meet up later at Ocotillo Wells or Sand Dam or anything. If you miss the take off point you can give us a call to meet at another spot along the way.

So the rough plan is to head out from Plaster City. Meet on the east side of the plant. NOT Plaster City East OHV area. Look for the blue sign and the covered parking. From Plaster City we will go through Superstition out the backside of Sand Dam and take some washes to Hwy 78 then into Ocotillo Wells SVRA through San Felipe Wash. From there we will go north around the Salton Sea on the highway. We will then pick up the Cochella Canal Road to Slab City and Salvation Mountain. From there we will continue south through the North Dunes and (hopefully) pick up Ted Kipf trail. If we make it to that point it's an easy hop through Glamis to Gordon's where we will hit Interstate 8 to the Quechan Resort Casino. All subject to change for time and distance variables. Ending the day at the Quechan Casino for some buffet food, drink, hang out, and sleep. I will be staging at Quechan with my camper and enclosed trailer so if you need a free place to sleep first come first served I have sleeping for at least three in the camper and 10 in the enclosed trailer.

Sun Jan 12 is a free for all. Those of us that are still running can plan a beat run anywhere; those that need to get back to the house can split.

If anyone likes shooting things and blowing stuff up with Tannerite I could be convinced to bring a shooting bench, guns, and Tannerite for a Sunday gun day in the desert.

As stated before we want to accommodate anyone that wants to head out with us. If you need special arrangements let me know. If you want to meet up with ups please specify a time and a place you want to meet.

I don't know about 2wd "friendly" but with a good attitude, locker and dirt worthy tires properly aired down you will survive. A V8 in a Ranger (Mazda) wouldn't hurt either. I say this half joking and to make a point. I don't want someone to show up in an ill prepared truck, not knowing what they are getting in to, and have a crappy day. Don't be scared, we'll get you through it. If you don't get stuck once in while you're not trying hard enough. BTW it's bad form not to have your own tow strap at the ready.

I worked out the final details of the route last night. Should be lots of fun sand washes. Unfortunately there is a fair bit of straight line road also. Of course we all the know the secret to making a straight road fun. Sadly we have about 35 miles of pavement going around the Salton Sea. I wish the whole world was made of dirt roads.

One big disclaimer I have to throw out here. This is not an organized run. This is a small group of guys just going off roading for the day. Nobody is in charge. This is not an organized run. I have a vague idea of where we might go. This is not an organized run. 3x... Ok, glad we got that out of the way. Don't forget your whips. 3rd time on that one also.

Is this an organized run? Actaully Buck makes a great point, not organized and you will need a well prepared 2wd to run this trip or 4wd. When I say 2 wd friendly I mean that it will not have any crazy rock crawls or planned mud pits. The time is approaching fast, see you all soon.
