I'll be heading down on Thursday and heading back Sunday. Stashing the truck in SD and going with the DA crew. I guess were pitting for TT #16 about 1.5 hours south of Encenada somewhere.

I am making the trip. Haven't been in quite a while so I'm pretty stoked. I don't have any sort of plan yet. The team I used to chase for is not racing anymore, so...I suppose I am just spectating. I'd like to come up with a good plan for the best places to watch, sleep, etc.

Hey Dave,
I talked with Brian Parkhouse last night and he just came back from prerunning the course. He said the new section going up to the summit is going to be a real pain. Apparently, they cut a new road to circumnavigate a section they couldn't get access permission on... it's really steep and very narrow, with a very steep drop off on the other side. He said if you don't have good brakes, you're really screwed. So, it sounds like if/when someone gets stuck there, it'll clog up the entire train! One of his guys following in a class 7 truck took a few hours to get up an over, no way around. Had to air down to 8psi just to get enough traction to make it over. Apparently, Sal is aware. We shall see if they change it.

After a few more days of prerunning the dozer will go back and try to improve the new up/down sections. RM 110-113. Not much hope of improvement IMO. Deeep silt of something very hard and smooth.

Marking pics

TT took pics while I drove. No pics on the down hill after 110. All wheels locked until I touched the berm then gave it full lock relaesed the brakes
and made it around. All at slow speed. I should have been in low range.

Anybody prerunning this weekend? I am heading down Friday early starting in ojos and staying at Mikes. Saturday will be the rest of the course and stay in ensenada.

Should be a hoot. Prepped the dump tonight and she is ready to go.

Well, I am started to get excited about making the trip down. I've got a house to stay at near Erendira, so I'm excited about that. I'm hoping I can catch some of the action early on the course, and still make it down to spectate on the Pacific side...however, it might be dark by the time a lot of people get to the pacific side???

Might go down in time for HP Ranch party Thursday night...but would need to figure out a place to crash in Ensenada that night...maybe they will let us camp out in the parking lot :)

If anyone is looking for a little extra pit support, particularly on the Pacific side, let me know.

The Joker usually has rooms on short notice just south of Ensanada. Don't expect to find rooms on race weekend anywhere, at least at a nice place?

BTW, In Erendira THE place is Coyote Cals. Its a hostel and has camping facilities. Stayed there lots of times. Neat.

I've never had a problem getting a spot on the grass to camp at Estero Beach. Usually $45 during the 500. They have showers which is all I care about.
