Awesome. Ok, sorry I was half awake when they said they were holding permits. Thought that for all races in Lucerne.

Re: Sept 11th More Chili Cookoff; Lucerne
Just a quick update on the extra rules for all. There will be extra law enforcement present that will be aiding in maintaining the 150ft standoff. If you are racing Jim has stated that you will receive a single warning with regards to adhering to the rules. If you are found in violation a second time you will be asked to leave and will not race. I am assuming that pit/chase teams will be cited under the team they are supporting.
Also it appears that MDR will no longer be allowed to sanction races in Barstow/Lucerne. BLM has stated that only 1 org will be given permits. This means that entries will be approx double the normal draw as MDR racers joi up with MORE. This also means that the area will be even more crowded. The larger field will make for some great racing but all chase/PIT?Drivers will need to be even more alert to the hazards.
JIM/RON are passing info as they get it hammered out with BLM. It has been stated that approx 15 pages of new rules have been added. For the most up to date info check out MORE's web site and the race talk forum.

Public Service announcment: I am not 100 percent clear on this but it looks like ANYONE that is going to be in Main Pits will be required to be banded and have paperwork on file with MORE. This means that banding/paperwork will need to be in at tech friday. I know My brother and Tony are working on this for the Kaveman Team but I thought it was good info to share with all. I dont beleive if youa re spectating in other areas the rule will apply but I beleive any remote pits/chase will need to be banded. I will share more info as I find out about it.

So does that mean that MDR is finished for good if the only permits are gonna be given to MORE? If that is the case I don't think that is fair.

WRT to in Barstow/Lucerne I do beleive that it will be some time before BLM approves permits for another promoter. I beleive 2010 permits were pulled as part of the federal investigation into the incident.78Class3 wrote:So does that mean that MDR is finished for good if the only permits are gonna be given to MORE? I have not specifically looked but I beleive the san diego BLM may still be allowing them to race? Nothing has been said that I have seen regarding that.
My gut tells me that MDR is going to have a rough time over the next year or so as I am sure there will be financial strains on the orginization as the result of civil actions ( I hope not but...)
I do not beleive that the actual fate of MDR has been set in stone I am trying to stay abreast of info as losing a race org is not a good thing for any of us. Only time will tell at this point.

1. After a 2 1/2 hour meeting this morning with the BLM the following rules were force on us. From the orange colored markers to the pit is 100'. Form the orange colors markers to the front of your Motorhome which will be behind the pits. is 150'
2. At line up no one will come into the line up area only the car and driver.
3. To watch the start you will be back 150' from course unless you are in the pits.
4. There will be a Spectator fence set up to watch the race from there.
There are a lot of new rules all set by the BLM I have no say in them. If you don't follow the rules. There will be no more permits issue. There will be 14 BLM rangers, Sheriff department and our Insurance Co here for this event. everyone MUST be on their best behavior
Before this is over we are going to be like Vegas everything will be closed no pre running and no one will be allowed anywhere except in the start area. the Biggest concern is spectators with the BLM
