Question guys: I'm thinking my leafs may be too soft.
Option 1: order up a set of q80's
Option 2: get the 64's
Option 3: get the dude at e&c spring company to put his money where his mouth is and rework my nationals to hold more weight. I'm leaning toward option 1

No but it's sitting on the bumps at ride height. These nationals came off a 1450 truck. Granted I need to shorten the bumps to 2" stroke but you see where I'm going with this. It squatted a bunch under it own weight.

I remember your bumps looked like the were mounted lower than normal in earlier pics. What is the measurement from bottom of the frame to top axle tube. Maybe someone w/ q80s can give you there measurements for comparison.

Found the pic. Most I've seen run the axle tube to the frame or close looks like you missing out on a bit of up travel before bump.

Yes I am short an inch negative. But reason is I changed my mind half way through if you guys recall. Basically when I shit canned the wedge blocks I lost 1 1/4 inches of upstroke which became an issue with the previously placed bump stops. So I screwed up the proper progression. At the same time I was not wanting to do the cage instead just a few hoops for temporary. So the bump cans will be cut off and replaced a bit higher but it still only leaves me with 6 inches or so of upstroke on the shock. My current shock placement has 1.5 upstroke unused at full tuck for this reason. No job worth doing unless your willing to do it twice lol

If it were me, I would bump the axle to the frame and build my bump and shocks to that. Up travel I key. Id rather have less life with the springs that always be in the bumps and bucking. It may not be an issue just my $.02

I have never got the whole "shorten the bumps" thing. If you don't like how hard they hit initially, run lower pressure and more oil to keep the fully compressed force where you need it. I would rather have it more progressive than shorter and harsher to deal with the short stroke.

But yeah, I would move them up also. Up travel is key.

... So I was thinking about it on the way home, I think I'm 2.5 inches lower than I origionaly set the rear bumps for. 3/4 shackle, 1.5 or 2 in the wedge removal/ factory perch. That's what I get for trying not to do it the right way from the beginning.

I did not shorten my rear bumps on my race truck (although I have 13" of bump travel) but in the front I shortened them. The reason for shortening them is they are a "bump stop" not another shock. Although in theory that is what they are. When in the smaller chop 18-24" whoops I had alot of chop in the front end. During some testing I discharged the front bumps and it took that choppyness out but then hit hard in the holes. When I shortened the bump it gave me the best of both worlds.

Your bigest problem is that yes you need to bump almost touching the frame then go from there

Appreciate the pointers guys, It's on my to do list. Along with finishing my cage work up front, dash ect. But my desiel is in the shop right now so the bronc is my gas guzzling way to work so I can't do too much till I get the other back. In the mean time I'm working on some front end stuff to put on soon.
