Oh noes!

This is the rough cut on my knuckles. Remember to wear a breathing apparatus when cutting or grinding cast. The dust is no good for you.

Oh, and my OE balljoints are still good... maybe I baby this thing too much?

OE ball joints? Mine are still original. Good geometry helps, too.

The front calipers are from a 2003 Mustang Cobra. Yes, the rotors are a little over 13", they are from a 1500 Dodge Ram.

So in theory you could also use any upgrade Cobra caliper as well? Did you design the caliper brackets or where did you pick them up?

Hey Philo, how much would it cost me for 5 method standards in machined finish?

I designed the brackets in 2D CAD and had Erik Shallbetter cut them out for me. A upgrade caliper may work, no way to know without fitting it up.

Yes, in theory. I'm doing something similar and if I was wanting to spend big $$, Baer 4 and 6 piston calipers should bolt on nicely with an adapter bracket.

I just did some bolt on brackets for a buddy, He ran the Dodge rotors and 6 piston CNC calipers with the 5-1/4" mounts. They fit ver well with minimal trimming. I'll see if I can dig up some completed pictures.

Would there be any disadvantage to welding the caliper mount directly to the snout, outside of destroy a snout and you need a new bracket? Looks like you would have a decent shoulder on the front, you could chamfer the backside fairly large and grind it flat, and the snout is not going to be a cast part.

No disadvantage other than the fact the bracket and snout become one piece. I've seen others do it without issue, and it's way better than mounting to the knuckle.

I disagree, but it wasn't My vehicle........... When you bolt it to the spindle, your putting a lot more stress on the bolts holding it in. I would be checking those bolts a lot more often than you normally would.........
