Its working really well but id definitely get the one from summit. No offense taken. It almost sounds like a fan clutch. I replaced mine and the truck will run at 200 to 208 at 118 degree weather. Driving home from corona to wildomar at 98 to 100 it runs steady 200

Just picked up some more pieces to my puzzle from Kel Fab creations. I have to say the man does awesome work!!!! I'm only sorry that while he was spending time making these for me, I took time away from him working on his own project.

I also have to thank Robertcrav, I picked up F53's last week from him. Another piece to my on going puzzle.

It was nice meeting both of you, and I thank you both.

Jose

Ok guys I need some help. Im trying to get my deavers on before pismo.

So far I have,

Deavers
Shackles
And hangers

I picked up grade 8 hardware today and bushings for the shackles. I need to pick up u-bolts before the end of the week.

So here are my questions. I did some research and didn't find any real answers. Can I use my stock spring plates and be ok? Or do I have to find f150 2wd ones? Also more importantly I have a 2 inch block in right now that is going to go away. Do I have to find a stock wedge to put in its place to correct the pinion angle? And is there a certain degree I should be looking for to work best with f53's?

Other than that I will be trying to tackle this on my own this weekend or next weekend. Wish me luck.

TIA,

Jose

Jose - I've been running 3" spring plates with 2.5" springs for the past few years with no issues other than the bottom two leaves wanting to twist out a bit after hard use. I have noticed some deformation in the plates, but nothing that suggests eminent failure. I would say no worries for the Pismo trip, but do plan on changing them out.

Ok thanks yikes.. What about the spring perches? I've been reading some different opinions about cutting them out and using f150 perches.

Just so you guys understand. I'm being so cautious and methodical about this, because this is my DD and I can't afford to make a mistake on a weekend install and have to wait until Monday to get parts. Basically I can't screw up...I need to be as ready as possible. So I'm trying to cover my bases.

And I do plan on going to a 9 inch, but that's probably not going to happen until after Christmas.

Again TIA,

Jose

I would just get some new perches and set it up for the springs with out wedges. Giant included some MOPAR ones with my 64 kit. The have rounded edges which are supposed to be nicer to the springs. I wrote down the part number somewhere I will try and find it.

some helpful info here on the spring plates.

Funny thing is about a week after posting this I came across a box I had forgotten about & I had a couple sets of the F-150 plates.

Think I'm still going to do the bronco ones though.

Thanks Steve,

Very helpful info there. Going to try to cut these plates out at work..

I'm going to put my deavers on this weekend. I was thinking of cutting the rivets off of the rear hangers, and replacing them with bolts during this week. Seeing that removing the rivets is going to eat up the most time, I think. That way on Saturday I just unbolt the rear hangers and bolt on new. Then continue on from there.

Wish me luck. I hope this doesn't turn into a catastrophe.. Everything that supposed to be simple for me, turns into a freakin nightmare.

Sounds like a smart plan! Rivets may be hard to get at with the stock tank in though.

Oh and replace them with 1/2" fine thread bolts. Use a nylock for now & a stove/top lock when you finalize this weekend.
