They only make/stock that particular wheel in a 5x5.5, but I can get them for you for in blanks drilled to an 8x6.5. They typically will charge $30.00-$35.00 extra per wheel on top of the price of the wheel to drill blanks out. For that particular wheel I can waive the machine fee's and still get them for you for less then retail.RyanDS650X wrote:Looks pretty sweet! I like the Methods, do they have a 17" in 8x6.5 in that finish?

I have the black 16x8 Standard wheels. I wanted the diamond cut finish (machined finish) but it looks like they don't have them so I may be powdercoating them or getting them polished out if that's possible.

Is the engine cage welded in or bolted? I love it! What would a bolt in version of that set me back?

Thanks! It is welded. I have been getting pressured about making bolt on engine cages but I just don't have time for something like that yet. I will eventually though.AussieRod wrote:Is the engine cage welded in or bolted? I love it! What would a bolt in version of that set me back?![]()

Re: "The Family Wagon II" by Threat Motorsports
So, as some of you may be aware the McQueen Hood thread in the G0-Fast forum, I have ended up with this particular Bronco.
Dave was building it for his personal use, and then ended up parting it out with intensions on selling it. He ended up installing new parts on it for a buyer out of Mammoth, CA. They guy in Mammoth ended up wanting another wake boarding boat, so I saw the ad on Craigslist, went up there with cash in my pocket and the rest is history. That was in October of 2012. Happy Birthday to me
When I bought the truck, it was just as Dave had built it in the previous posts of this build thread. I will recap what the status of the Bronco was when I acquired it.
1995 5.8 / E4OD with 120k on the odometer
New interior (seat covers, headliner and carpet)
Stock rear end with stock gearing and 2" wheel spacers
Threat beams, 4.5 over with longer axles, stock gears and stock auto hubs
Threat radius arms and brackets
Threat engine cage (stubbed and ready to accept tube from cab cage)
Method wheels with 37" Projects
Threat front and rear bumpers
(Note: all mods were still raw steel)
I will continue Dave's build thread below, with pictures, etc. I haven’t done anything too major, but have done a fair amount of work. The following is a list of what I have done here and there since October 2012, in chronological order.
Replaced the distributer due to a faulty PIP
Deaver F53 spring packs with Threat shackles
Threat under floor shock mount with Radflow 3” bypass shocks
New rear drive shaft
Re-geared rear end to 4:88 with Eaton E-locker
Re-geared front end to 4:88 with TracLoc
New Front Brakes
Warn Premium manual locking hubs
New hoses, belt, etc.
Kenwood race radio
New matching Method spare wheel and used 37” Project
After the above mods, I did the Mojave trail on two different occasions with some jeep friends. The Bronco performed awesome, but man is it boring waiting for jeeps to catch up. I did bend the drag link on the first day of the second trip. I bent it back and continued on with good success. I was able to get a new one in Bullhead.
I also took the Bronco to NV to do some pit work for the 2013 Vegas to Reno race. Lost my fuel pump on that trip and had to limp it back to my buddy’s place in Hesperia, then changed that out. I bought a new pump in Vegas, in case I had to swap in the desert. Glad I didn’t have to do that. It was only acting up when it was hot and at altitude.
Since then, I have done the following.
Installed the new McQueen hood.
Painted it. Including sanding the glass top smooth, so it matches the rest of the truck
Added light tabs to the front bumper
Added a receiver to the rear bumper, complete with proper frame gussets
Powder coated both bumpers, beams, radius arms and knuckles
Baja Designs prerunner series HIDs and LEDs
New front drive shaft (Old slip joint was clunking on the last Mojave trip)
Tinted the windows
Alpine MP3 head unit with hands free, 900 watt 5 channel amp, new door speakers and sub-woofer. Can you say BOOM!!!?
Last but not for long, a receiver mounted shackle for the rear bumper
Things to do in the near future…
Ditch mag mount antenna and install a proper NMO through roof model
Replace cracked dash pad
Restore existing door panels (Have upholstery guy do his magic on them)
Rear inside tire mount with integrated rack for cooler, storage bins, etc.
Relocate battery. I like the rear frame mounted idea, or the giant subsurface battery box. (Not sure if I can do the Giant box wth my shock mount)
New steering box or rebuilt with pump upgrade, cooler and swing set steering (with hydraulic ram or at least ram ready)
Things for my long term goal include….
Heavy duty rear end of some type. Not sure which direction I will go
Cab cage with race seats, etc.
Maybe a custom interior at the time of the cage installation
That’s all that I can come up with for now. There may be stuff that I am forgetting and I am sure there will be more that I will think of, as time goes on. I will post more updated pics soon, as time allows.
