Saw that Bronco up close and personal at last year's MORE race while I was chasing for Kaveman Racing. Guy was super cool and let me climb around that truck. Really nicely built by Bobby and his crew at Solo. I watched it scoot off and lets just say it moves.

Starter is no big deal, you can probably replace it in 15 minutes. I upgraded to a Powermaster starter in my 460 Bronco and I love it. It burned up three starters before I finally bought a Powermaster hi torque starter and now it cranks super fast. The 5.8L's generally have really good starters though so a parts store starter might be okay however, I don't want to endorse VatoZone or other crappy parts stores like that because sometimes shit goes bad, leaves you stranded.. and then they say it's the first time they've heard of something like that.

I've seriously felt like punching some of the younger "parts experts" right in their mouth as well as the managers who act like they are the authority in the automotive field and like to point at the ASE patch on their shirts (I doubt any of those ASE certificates are for Advanced Engine Performance) and then go about telling me the different reasons why I probably installed it wrong  I then calmly have to explain to them why their part failed and when they realize I'm right they act like they're still right but are going to make an exception in my case.

I'd figure you could find a great deal on Summit Racing and they usually ship in 2 days (even though they say a week).

I'd get the one that's cheaper since the 351 cranks pretty easy anyway. I think I ended up paying almost $250 for my Powermaster starter.

I bought it from Team C because they had it in stock.. I actually burned one of their entry level powermaster starters because my 460 was locking up due to a faulty EFI swap so the starter got cooked durning initial cranking. (Totally my fault) They were cool about it and I told them I wanted the best one they had, as long as it wasn't chrome

Here's the one I have and it cranks over my 460 like it's a little honda civic :D

The factory gear reduction starters work great, the one you have is the old style for some reason.

I think there's two different kinds of starters. the older ones I've noticed have a bigger starter that cranks slower (kinda sounds like the 5.0L Mustang starter) and then all the ones with an E4OD have the gear reduction starter and they just sound awesome in my opinion. They crank way faster then the one on my '89.

Nice! That's a cool starter and will have more than enough power for the 5.8L. I've been waiting patiently since '09 for my starter to start fail in my '89 Bronco so I can install that same starter. :D
