4.88 and a spool. Works great aside from the chirping. if your going for cheap Lincoln lock it.

spools definitely work great... too great haha! i got so fed up with the chirping and bouncing i switched to the yukon... not to mention it was wearing my tires down pretty quick. oh and dont bother driving/parking it in a parking garage or trying to do a u-turn! haha

It's definitely not a major street truck. It will be driven but it's mostly for the dirt. I feel a spool will kill tires and axles. I like the Lincoln locker idea but same concern as the spool. The drop in lockers are cheap. I have the limited slip already but it's probably pretty wore out. I seemed to have one tire fire a lot this weekend. I'm sold on 4.88 too. This thing is pretty gutless so I need all the help I can get.

mine was gutless too and the gears made it fun to drive again... well those and the punisher valve body! just make sure you adjust the PSOM otherwise it won't shift right and the speedo will be off. there are tons of write ups on it. i have a 9" and 35 spline axles so i wasn't as worried about the axles but the tire wear and turning issues definitely got old quick. I have broken a couple drop in setups plus spools are super cheap anyways so if it is mostly a dirt truck that would be the way to go.

Well I think in order to save some moola I'll put the aggressive clutches in the trac lok and just do gears and a simple truss. I'll weld the tubes and call it a day. The maybe get the bolt in third from JBG with a tru track. Then try to find the bolt in axle.

So I'm going to build a back bumper soon. I want it to have a receiver and be able to tow something. Obviously nothing huge but if I need to pull a small flat bed or something I'd like to be able to. Does anyone have any good pics of how the mounted theirs and if they can tow with it? I would appreciate any pictures. I'm thinking I might do some sort of hybrid tube/plate bumper.

And also, I'm going to the 500 this year, what are some good field repair parts to take? I'm taking electrical repair stuff, fuses, vacuum line, and tools. Any specific sensors or parts that I shouldn't be without?

And does anyone have done good pics if how they moved their back seat forward? I'm going to keep the tire inside but would like to stand it up. Thanks!

Taylor (Nubreed71) just had a sweet rear bumper made for his F-150. Pics in his thread. It's not a bronco, but close enough.

And I think RobertCrav has pics of his seat move in his thread.

Nubreed's bumper is pretty sweet! I was debating running mine a bit wider to cover the rear corners.

Almost finished with mine. I still need to add a removable dual spare tire mount and plate the top....Also doubles as a 2 gallon air tank, I just need to find the right compressor and plump it.

Hey Cactus is that 2x6? I really like that. I'm also interested in the way you're going to mount the hinges for the carriers.

Thought was to use a spindle mount inverted on the bumper( spindle being mounted on the rack) and plated top and bottom (so when not in use it could be removed), then for the top of the tire hanger use a heim and some how it be tied into the cage ( like 1st & 4 pic ). Probably over kill, but why do it twice. Really just coping some ideas that I have seen on here and with some tweaks making it my own. Not sure if will be for 2 spares.... or 1 and cooler... or what ever. At the moment my tire is mounted in the drivers side behind the back seat.

Thanks cactus.

So are there any emergency part recommendations for my first trip to Baja? Don't really want to be stranded.

So I'm seriously starting to consider putting a 9" under this thing. I really don't want to spend a ton on the 8.8 when I know I'm not going to keep it under there for a long time. My question is, will an econoline housing fit under the stock sheet metal? I know it will be about the same track width as the stock width front. I have a friend with a housing already trussed that he'll sell me for $100. So then I could get a nice set of axles and the third member I want and be done for a very long time. I really don't want to hack up the stock sheet metal to make the tires not rub and I'm definitely not putting glass on the back before I do the front. Any input?

What else is required? I know there is pinion yoke that matches the front shaft u-joints so I would only need one spare. And they make long and short yokes, would a long one prevent me from having to lengthen my driveshaft? I'm staying with the drum brakes for now to save money.

And then back to a previous question, what are good emergency field repair parts to carry when I go to Baja. So far I have a Sat phone which probably won't ever happen. Thanks!

Oh and I finally found a gray Expedition center console on Ebay. It was in perfect condition and I got it for $190 with shipping. Then the seller called and said someone messed with the console so the storage cubby rubber insert is missing as is the front 12v plug. Also the latch for the console lid is broken. So haggled him down to $100! I'm fine with that. I'll fix the latch and going to make a custom sheet metal deal to cover the storage pocket to hold a race radio when I get one and either gauges or switches. The shipping has been delayed due to weather so I still haven't gotten it. I'll post some pics when I get it.
