I SECOND THAT.

by the time my '86 stopped passing smog in '06, i had already invested waaay more than i paid for her in '95.
and @ the time, i couldnt justify spending another dime on her...so i parked it. for 5 years.

2 months ago, the stars aligned & the sky opened up...and i heard a voice (mine) say...
"...IT IS TIME." and here we are.

my bronco inspired 2 of my friends to buy broncos...later, they both pussed out and let theirs go.
to this day they BOTH regret it.

DO NOT LET HER GO!!

Got it back today. I have to say there's a huge difference. Shifts fast and firm.

For $2600 I got:
  • New billet torque converter
    Shift kit
    More springs in accumulators
    Upgrade reverse boost valve
Improved lube ports in the pump
New design center shaft support with bearing instead of bushing
    Upgraded solenoid block
    Additional clutches in forward drum
They also replaced the planetary that was gone.
My car is a hybrid; it burns gas and rubber.

More progress. Test fitting the cross bar. Thank you Philo for recommending thicker walled tubing!

Thanks! I designed the shock mount a few months ago and just recently got the pieces cut out. We'll see how it works. I have parts for another one if you're interested ;)

Figuring out where to mount the top of the shocks taking in to consideration bump height.

Looking good. Do you only have the plates on the sides or is there some kind of support to keep it from moving side-to-side? You also need to make sure it can't twist. If you've got enough valving in the shocks, it''s tear the mount apart pretty quickly if it's not up to par. Ask me how I know....

Cycles fine. I aired it out a bunch this weekend and didn't have any problems.

There's only the side plates, but I ran the crossbar through the side plates and welded both sides to help with keeping it from moving around a little. The valving isn't super stiff, so I think it will work OK.

I forgot, I also made the shock mount tabs a little deeper on the cutout out where they attach to the crossbar to help durability. I think if I ever end up making more for anyone (hint, hint guys ;) ) that I will make them wrap all the way around the cross bar.
