I'm going to sell my 6 good years and trail readys if your looking Brian.yikes wrote:Well, the ol' beat and hammered Yeti is down for a while. It needs some serious TLC....rode hard and put away wet too many times. Haha! Going to get it prepped for the October excursion and the mil. The short list:
Rebuild steering box (again)
Fabricate steering ram mount
Install a fresh sag pump
Replace rear shock shafts, rebuild, re-valve and add boots
Fab new rear lower shock mounts for shafts with welded rod ends
Rebuild front shocks
Rebuild rear driveshaft
Replace Coleman rotors on rear
Rebuild rear calipers
Replace front calipers
Turn front rotors
New tires (and possibly new wheels...flat spots on all 4 Champions)
Fluids and filters
Put some time in to finishing the cage
Dream about doing all the cool stuff the rest of you guys are doing to your rides. I want those RMC knuckles and 37's really bad. Haha!

You might as well put the 4"x17" travel shocks I have on the rear while you're revuilding those lower mounts.

Need more info, and part numbers on this !.yikes wrote:Thanks for the good words Tom. I was just checking out your thread and noticed the 2lb valves. How is that working out? Do you like it? Here's my set-up in progress. Still have to make a mounting plate for the prop valve.BajaF250 wrote:I can't wait to see this truck, you have done a lot of very nice work on it!

Re: Brian's '96
The master cylinder was from a late pre-ABS year. Don't recall the details. I probably searched '91. The proportioning valve is overkill, but does have electric line lock capability. If I did it again, I would probably just install a single in/out unit. Less work, fewer potential fail points.Andy Jones wrote:What year master cylinder did you wind up using ?

Re: Brian's '96
Got the everything torn down and ready for some new parts. Decided to go ahead and replace the water pump with a Flowkooler and throw in a new harmonic balancer while the space is clear. Broke the plastic post for the coolant overflow off of the radiator, which is only months old. Decided to go with a budget, all aluminum direct fit unit. Hope it works out. Really tired of the big ass shock reservoirs taking up so much space. Planning to downsize to 3" units and lines that don't belong on a D10 in the future, but not this round. Steering box is out for another rebuild and having a ram built to match the pitman arm travel. Coleman Racing has one of my rear brake rotors and they're making a fresh pair. Totally wiped them out when I put the wrong pad compound in. Braking was amazing! and the brake dust was more amazing. Took 1/8 off the rotors in 2 weeks. Hahaha! Finished rebuilding and revalving the rear shocks. Short shafts are in, but may swap them back if I run out of time to fab mounts before the next trip.

Re: Brian's '96
Also working on a strange problem with the ball joints. Passenger side spacing is not right, causing the upper joint to be too close to the inner C, which won't allow the camber bushing to seat correctly. Either the lower inner C taper is worn or the lower stud is out of spec. Never had this problem before. Clearance between the inner and outer knuckle is 1/8 shorter than the driver's side. Anyone else experience this?

Re: Brian's '96

Now all you need is a weld top, then you can fit a 2" longer shock under the rear.........

Thanks for the info. When you did your ABS delete. Did you make new hardline's for the brakes?yikes wrote:The master cylinder was from a late pre-ABS year. Don't recall the details. Yes. After eliminating the ABS pump and lines, it really simplified things. Added a 2lb residual pressure valve on the rear line tucked in the frame rail. Should have run the brake lines along the radius arms too.Andy Jones wrote:yikes wrote:Thanks for the info. When you did your ABS delete. Did you make new hardline's for the brakes?

I put in a Champion 3 row bolt in and it's a big improvement over an old stocker. Barely gets to N on the gauge. Has a nice cap and billet neck. Great cheap and easy upgrade- the stock lines will not connect to the radiator -- I believe the radiator fittings in the Champion are 1/8npt.
