Re: Nighthawk!
Right on, awesome progress! The coil/bump mount looks great!
Re: Nighthawk!
Thanks!
Any pointers on aligning this pig to 'close enough' status to get it to the shop? I'm trying and it always just goes sky high in the front. It's sitting really high so I hope it's just the toe that's causing it. CHO said they are jigged for 0* eccentrics which I bought. I hope I don't need to buy others because those things are pricey.

Re: Nighthawk!
Once you roll it forward the front should settle down. Make sure you drive/roll forward where you will be aligning it. That way it will be at ride height. (Atleast that is what mine does...)birdco85 wrote:Thanks!

Re: Nighthawk!
I made and alignment to to avoid all the back and forth when setting up camber. It's basically a pad the tire sits on with 2 bars underneath for it to roll on. It's about 4" tall. The pad and roller go underneath one tire and a 4x6 to level the other side. When you lower the truck the rollers slow it to settle into the real ride height with out front to back movement.

I don't have a pick but I do have excellent technical drawing skills so this might make sense....

That's a good idea!cs_drums wrote:I made and alignment to to avoid all the back and forth when setting up camber. It's basically a pad the tire sits on with 2 bars underneath for it to roll on. I think I figured it out though. When I assembled the shocks I put quite a few turns of preload into it thinking it was gonna need it. It didn't. It was sitting probably 3 inches too high. I took the straps off, jacked it up and backed the ring all the way off. Then I put the strap back on and drooped it out then tightened the ring to the spring there, plus two turns. That way when its drooped out the spring won't unseat. That got me to ride height then I set the toe which was an inch in! Now it's an 1/8". Drives great and the camber looks great and is pretty much level. I'm stoked.
Re: Nighthawk!
Well i was cleaning the garage and found the dust cap for my slip shaft on the ground... Not sure why it would've popped out. The thought didn't bind at all. Are there any options other than full disassembly again?

Re: Nighthawk!
Looks awesome. Great work!!
Re: Nighthawk!
So not sure if this is normal or something happened when it fell on the ground but this doesn't seem right. The only thing I can think of is that the passenger axle is shorter and travels a shorter arch. So with it being lifted it pulls the passenger tire in more. Seems a little excessive though. Also it's a little high. It settles a bit more but still looks the same.

Re: Nighthawk!
When it fell did it bend the driverside mount or the cross member?
Re: Nighthawk!
Nothing seemed out of place.
Re: Nighthawk!
I just got under there and everything seems straight. All the grease that's stuck on the cross member is still in the same place with no gaps or apparent shifting. The driver side bracket looked straight. All body lines are straight too. If the frame got bent I would think the body lines would be way off.
Any more thoughts everybody? It's a good 1 inch further out on the d side

Re: Nighthawk!
Have someone stand on the brakes while cranking the wheel back and forth. My subframe separated from the drivers side frame rail and looked normal sitting still. Don't think where mine broke would cause your concern. Maybe the other side? At any measure the technique may help you.

Re: Nighthawk!
is it level side to side? Did you allgn it yet? beams do some funky stuff when they are out of alignment. It looks like the driver side is dropped out farther.
Re: Nighthawk!
It's pretty close the picture. I've since leveled it a bit more. It was only a 1/2" higher on driver side.
I've been reading that the body could crooked on the frame. That could've happened when it fell. I measured the front frame to body distances and it is definitely not equal. It has been raining so I haven't done much looking though.
Also, the springs are 450/500 and it only has about 1/2" if preload to get to ride height. I'm gonna swap the top for a 350 and see how it does. It is a bit rough in the front.

Re: Nighthawk!
Took the bronco to John at autofab for him to check it out. I ended up having to pull the driver side bucket off and remake the cross bar. There is a small bubble on the top of the frame that causes the bucket to not entirely sit flat. I had to cut about a 1/4" x 5" piece out of the top if the frame c and beat the bubble flat. Turned out really good.
Also talked to my alignment guy and taking it in tomorrow. The driver side definitely has more positive camber so that exaggerates the issue. Also noticed the body mounts have done clean crescent shapes around the rubber. So that means the body shifted when it fell. The assignment guy said he can straighten it for me. He has a frame table too if it's bent.- philofab

Too much droop or using a spring as a c-clip eliminator.birdco85 wrote:Well i was cleaning the garage and found the dust cap for my slip shaft on the ground... Not sure why it would've popped out. The thought didn't bind at all. Are there any options other than full disassembly again?
My Bronco body is shifted to one side also. It has been repaired on one side so it's probably been in an accident or rolled. Hoping new body mounts fix it, if not I'll figure something else out.

Re: Nighthawk!
The body on my bronco has shifted as well. Forward from a hard nose dive. I always tell people that are caging their trucks to make sure the body is positioned correctly on the frame. And to push it as far back as they can.
