110W Motorola Race Radios to an intercom
I am getting one of the 110W Motorola Race Radios from tmcglx, I know many of you also are running these. Anyone have one set up with a intercom? I am interested in trying to set it up and wondering if any one has done it or if I take the time and money to figure it out would anybody else be interestee in buying and adapeter. Just feeling it out I dont have the radio or the intercom yet just food for thought.

None that I have seen, however there is a guy that builds a plug in for this... I myself am barely doing research on it.

I've thought & talked about it. Can't remember if it was Tony that told me or not, (I'm thinking not since he didn't say it here) but I remember hearing there is an intercom plug off another model motorola radio that will work. Maybe start there? A call to Darrin at autofab may also be a decent idea as he knows these radios

I contacted BajaF250 and he is working with RacerX, something is already in the works. Now I just have to finish paying for the radio and save for the intercom!

Re: 110W Motorola Race Radios to an intercom
Jumping in on an old thread, but wanted to update... I was working with Mike at Racer-X to get his radio engineer to design an interface for the Motorola Maratrac and an intercom with the caveat that I wanted to have both the headset AND the hand mic and speaker work... switched is fine. After about a month, the engineer said he could not figure it out. So, I'm back to the drawing board. But, I'm not done... I may have an idea how to get to the end state... a functional intercom with the Maratrac, headset AND hand mic w/ external speaker. I'll let everyone know how it turns out.

Thread link for sharing of information.
I've got a Rugged Radios intercom and am hoping the David Clark or other intercom adapter Willie mentions will work as my guess is the raceX one will cost more.

Re: 110W Motorola Race Radios to an intercom
Guys,
Good news on the Maratrac/intercom front... Darin figured out how to integrate an AVCOMM intercom with the Motorola Maratrac radios we all use. We got it to work great... intercom integrated with the Radio... transmit and receive with the added plus, the external speaker works and the handset still works as well... all of my operational specifications and requirements... it's passed all of the feasibility and bench testing modes. Darin is now building a radio/intercom interface cable. It's fairly complex and once it's done, we'll put it to through operational testing in the BajaF250 to work out any potential bugs that we might have missed on the bench.
