I'd have to come up with something more original to pull the wool over your eyes... I wouldn't just copy B! You'll get no "gotcha" or "psych" on this one! 8-)

Since I swapped out my Ford stock stamped steel tranny oil pan for a new, billet Al Moroso, I wanted to protect it from flying rocks and the assorted off road hazards. Along with that, I have never gotten around to tying the radius arm brackets together to keep them from deforming and stressing the frame. So, I spent the weekend building and integrating a chromoly cross member into the transmission cross member and then extending some tubes forward as a base structure for a skid plate that covers the transmission pan and the engine oil pan. As you see, I boxed the transmission cross member to distribute the load evenly. Eventually, I'll bring it back to catch the transfer case to protect it too.

As you can see, I need to get under there and clean up the running gear a bit... but it'll have to wait until after the Mex 1000 and the Baja 500 coming up. Simply not enough time! I still have to mount and plumb a new frame mounted fuel filter to replace the stock one. I'm going to be on a much more frequent and rigid fuel filter replacement schedule to help avoid those fuel delivery problems I just got over. Changing a fuel filter every few months seems like pretty good insurance, especially when running as much Pemex as I do.

That looks really nice Tom!! Something similar is on my list of next to do's, I really like how that protects everything underneath.

Damn, Tom. I love it! A friend of mine did something similar on his Ranger and I always wanted to steal the idea. Great work!

Since my fuel pump and clogged fuel filter problems, one of the long term solutions is to replace the stock frame mounted inline fuel filter with a bowl type removeable bigger fuel filter. So, I researched a little and balanced out filter capability (10 microns), size, accessability, ease of filter replacement, flow rate, pressure drop, line pressure capacity (for fuel injection systems) and price. I ended up with the Trick Flow® TFX™ Canister Fuel Filter, p/n TFS-23006.

I mounted it on the outside of the frame under the driver's door and plumbed it with -6AN hardware. I convered the 3/8" stock fuel line to AN and plumbed it all together, nice and tidy.

I still have to add a rock shroud to protect the bowl from rocks coming off the front tire, but that'll take just an hour or two (hopefully, this weekend).

That sound like all my time estimates. I just spent two hours staring at the tongue of my pop-up trailer, moving stuff around and deciding I still don't know how to lay it all out!

    I know... it cracks me up, Jules always asks me when I'll be back from the shop and EVERY TIME, my time estimates are 2x or 3x off... she just laughs at me now and nods, "sure!, ah huh!"

When giving the wife time frames I ALWAYS estimate at least two times what I think it'll take. That way, when it takes three times as long I'm only a little late and not incredibly late.

And, if you just happen to finish early, you tell her you couldn't stand to be away from her any longer and called it an early day!

you guys got it all wrong! I ALWAYS work in the rule of 4s now. Everything takes 4 times longer than I plan and costs 4x as much.

Speaking of cost - what did you get that fuel filter setup for Tom? I may take the easy way out and instead of doing my own research I may just copy you - haha.

Then Tom will always have a spare ready to be shipped from your Costa Mesa shop.

Bahahahaha. I kid, I kid.
