Based solely on what I saw in the video it seemed like it should have had another couple inches of bump travel. It kinda skipped across the top of everything like the spring rate is too high or the compression is too stiff. If was set up that way intentionally, can you explain why? I don't know jack squat about this kind of stuff, just trying to learn about something that seems different than what I think I know. Kudos on the amazing weld quality. If it wasn't for the color change in the haz I couldn't have been able to figure out where you started and stopped.
The car is so light and short, philo is right it almost has to bounce off each hole to go thru them that fast. the amount of bump travel is a good question.

The chassis is very close to laying on the ground at bump, in fact the rear section of the car is about .25" ground clearance @ bump.

I cant answer your question completly, mabey someone else can. But what I can tell you is that I tuned on the bypass tubes till the car literally wouldnt go any faster. At the end of that day we had about .188"~ of not used shock shaft showing before the rubber bump pads on the fox shocks. So to me, that was about perfect for not getting out of control, and jumping the thing pretty good.

It is set up very stiff. For an all out race car that somebody like Harley is going to race, it's probably close. For a pre-run/play car, it's way to stiff. It has more than enough shock for lighter springs.

You're supposed to drive play cars slower than race cars? No one ever told me....

Play cars usually aren't driven up someones ass at speed where a gotcha will pop out of nowhere.

Ok, thanks for the answers guys. Makes sense. I couldn't help but think that it would be faster if the tires spent more time in contact with the ground, driving with continuous force. But I get the weight thing too...guess I'm just used to seeing heavy vehicles. When I went back and watched the video again and payed close attention to the landings of the jumps it seems like the tires almost kiss the fenders so it's about right for the big hits.

The only thing that would make this car any cooler would be to put an early Bronco body on it.

I'm a Ford guy too, but I will admit it's hard to beat the LS series of motor.

I'm definitely the "best bang for the buck" or "part (not brand) that works the best" type though.

I'll fight for this team. The only thing I couldn't put an LS in would be an early bronco.

Everyone's got their deal. I wouldn't put one in my alfa, but that's 2 part. 1 - it would be a REAAAAALY tight fit. 2 - is the originality thing, which i think is where you were going with your EB deal. If I had an EB it would be nowhere near stock (they're too narrow & too short for my liking) so a different motor would be no issue with me.

Only big in the overhead cam. 440 hundred pounds is a featherweight engine. I do not want to take anything away from the LS, it is a good, strong, light engine. It has to be, it is a small block ford copy. It is the current flavor of the month. If you want to make your LS fast, you can always bolt some Cleveland heads on it since the decks, the bore alignment, and the head bolt patterns are the same.

The LS can take Cleveland heads? I didn't know that. I thought you could only put Cleveland heads on a Windsor.
