Stock or fiberglass?

I have the latter of the 2. They are $$ though and shipping them is not cheap. I'll have to ask John how he goes about shipping them to far off places. My guess is he crates them.

either one. I think he might patch pannel them for now. Im trying to talk him into 'glass but its a tight budget.

I think im up next for a '70's ford.

Patch panels will be a LOT cheaper.

Its and '89 Ford F-150
351w
33" BFG Mud Terrains

A real pro install of a nice 2" lift consisting of...
longer radius arms?
drop brackets.

Now, i picked up the 6" Deaver coils, ext brake lines and the drop pitman arm
For the front, im gonna go with that kit, Bilstein 5150's, limit straps, Those balljoint cam adjusters, and ditch all the sway bars.

Sound like a decent enough set up?
any changes i should make?

what size shock should i use?

...and for the rear end, i have no idea what to do.
any help?

keep in mind im 17, have hardly any money, i know how to weld, the truck will be in a shop with a lift and all the tools i should need for fabbing.

speaking of fabbing, im thinking of bedcage, any thing i should know before i venture into that?

Not to much changed with the ford, just doing what it does, having a blast with it.

Just picked up this new project/DD

1992 Ford f150 nite editiion...

its got a rebuilt 351 bored .40 over, comp cam etc...

probably gonna rip that nasty brush guard off and go with a 4" coil, extended radius arms, and drop brackets.
its got the quad shock set up, so im just gonna stuff some normal aftermarket shocks under there.

maybe fiberglass for christmas?

nothing to extreme, just a nice dd.

Took the ford for a ride, has a serious sketchy amount of play in the steering.

would that be the pitman or the box?

feels like the box...

It could be the box or you need to go through the tie rod ends and such.

Yeah, ill look at those, but i have a major amount of play going into the box, with absolutely no movement coming out.

The rear suspension is up next, and I have a budget of about $500 bucks.

whats the best bang for the buck back there? Is it possible to do under that cheap?
(I know i can just do bilstein 5100's but with 500bucks, i think i could do a little more...)

Im thinking of messing with my stock leave's, and maybe taking the overload leaf out?

and running these shocks... how well would that do?

I've done that but it causes axle wrap. There's people here who work for biltein who could hook you up better.

Definitely pull the overloads. You might want to scrounge around for some thin leaves at the yard to add to the spring pack. The bump stops should be set to prevent the spring from negative arch. Longer shackles and shackle hangers moved back will improve the performance of the spring. You can add arc to your springs or take them in and have them done. You are looking for around 12-14" free arch in the spring; you probably have around 7-8".

you could take stock leaves in and have them arched that much with no other mod's?

I have and have seen local spring shops re-arch stock springs for 4-6" of lift. The factory lift block should go and and a longer shackle will drop the ride height so the end net vehicle lift will only be a couple of inches.

It will be easiest to get new Deaver or National springs.
