Re: 96 f150 build
Found a few more pics from the build, everything is just mocked up for now I just got the heims and spacers in and really just wanted to see how everything was looking. I still need to finish the engine cage and plumb the radiator, run brake lines and pick up the coilovers.
New FK 1 1/4 heims

Picked up some DOM to lengthen the steering and some new tie rods from RockAuto.com

Re: 96 f150 build
Welding the beams together was the easy part, setting them up with the right amount of castor and camber was abit tricky

This is the old set up, drop down brackets and some custom radius arms, they were actually tig welded!, I sold the kit with brakes and spindles for 350.00

Re: 96 f150 build
the main engine cage out of 1 3/4 chromoly, I still have to finish for the upper shock mounts..
in the beginning..

after..

decided to get rid of the frame horns, Ive cut out about 12 inches from the front of the frame..not to sure what this means as far as race tech rules goes..

What class are you running? 1450? The rules differ in most series but that truck will be fine in SNORE.

Re: 96 f150 build
I was thinking 1450 I would however like a "tighter" race group. What do you think about Heavy Metal or class 1500. I think for More and Snore I would fit in with the leaf springs for class 1450 but since the front is no longer "unequal" length I do not fit into the perimeters for class 1500. Do I have any other options?

Re: 96 f150 build
Heavy Metal normally has few entries. At the Mint 400 Chris Michael was entered but switched to 1450 after no one else was in the class.
I think your choices are limited to Class 8 and 1450.

Is that a Giant Motorsports weld it yourself kit?

Re: 96 f150 build
Looks like the older style. The new prismatic beam is put together differently.RSR wrote:Is that a Giant Motorsports weld it yourself kit?

Re: 96 f150 build
Your correct, it is the Weld it yourself Kit from Giant, Geoff's new style is the prismatic beams, however he does not sell it as a weld it yourself kit so I was stuck with the "older" style. Same with Threat Motorsports he has prismatic style beams but you can only buy it welded, so I opted to save myself a grand and do it myself..

Re: 96 f150 build
Few more updates, purchased 2nd auxillary optima yellow top, dual battery switch, I also dropped off the springs at Deaver on Tuesday to get a full race prep. There suppose to be done tomorrow because apparently they are closed over the weekend.. Also picked up a limit strap for the driveshaft and some lower shock mounts that mount over the rear springs and purchased Crow 5 points for the 3rd seat......Found a set of 35's BFG's I 'm suppose to meet him saturday morning...
Hope to finally have it close to being ready for its debut at the Poker Run in barstow at the end of this month!!!!!
Still need to change engine oil, add coolant, make sure brakes are bled..

Re: 96 f150 build
Picked up springs from deaver..

Decided to run dual batts..

Finally picked up a harness for the 3rd seat..

Still need to wire second battery, pick up a nitrogen tank for shocks...and add 12 inches of width to my trailer so I can tow this thing!!!
