quarter elliptical ?

All the quarter Elliptical setups ive seen have had the springs mounted in the back with them facing forward.Has anyone seen them mounted in the front and facing back.And if not why not?A friend of mine wants to build a class three Bronco with the springs mounted in front with them facing back.Im curious if that sounds like a bad idea or not.It seems to me with the fuel in back and both spares back there the weight should,nt be to much of a problem.

I wonder if it has anything to do with the travel path of the axle that requires it to be mounted from the rear. I have no idea but hopefully someone else can give their opinion.

I think it would be a bad idea to mount them in front of the axle. One of the benefits of a (traditional) quarter elliptical rear suspension is it pulls up on the front end. Mounting the springs like you're describing would push down on the front end. It would be a tuning nightmare.

Thanks guys.Ya Steve thats kinda what I was thinking that it would probably be a bad idea.I just wanted a second and third opinion.It makes sense to me that it would push down on the front end if mounted forward.

If I told you.Well you know what would happen to ya. HAHA. I really hope to see the Quarter elliptical one being built in Corvallis at a race soon.That one looks sweet.

I was just looking at a De Luc built jeep that the Skiltons are running. it looks to work well but I understand it takes a ton of trial and error to get it just right.
