H.I.D. kits

Post by hobbyturnedobsession »

I'm new to this sight and think that the bronco speed section from full size broncos is a little to thrashing for me so i thought i'd give you all a shout on a little swap I did. I took 4 hella 7700 series lights (fog light, clear lens) and went to amazon.com. Bought the h3 h.i.d. kit and spent a weekend converting and painting and let me tell you what, its amazing what those lights now put out. If you guys want any info let me know ill do my best to help out those who'd be interested. for less than one light you can have a set of lights that'd be hard to out run.
I'm just here for the views. It helps me feel wanted.

Our own TCM GLX sells HID kits here. He has actually done a write up on converting Hella 4000 lights.

I am running Tony's kits they work good. Will probably be getting another set of kits to convert some running lights soon.

Offroad light conversions are one thing but regarding headlight conversions, the lense on a headlight is designed differently for HID vs. Halogen. When you put HID bulbs in a housing desinged for Halogens you spray white light all over the place like a flood light on steriods. It blinds oncoming traffic and provides a less defined light pattern. I don't like em and I don't use em. Just my biased opinion.

On our trucks there is only a single bulb (9007 on 92-96) so it is also difficult to get a separate hi-lo beam without use of a aftermarket headlight assembly or a specialized HID bulb that moves to change beam pattern.

Depends on the bulb, H4's have longitudinally mounted filament and match up pretty well to an HID bulb. H1/H3's are cross mounted and your beam pattern will suffer.

The 9007 Bi-xenon hid kit works great. I put one in my bronco a few weeks ago. I haven't adjusted them right yet, but they work great. Hi and low beams are very bright.
