Where can I get a fuel filler neck for the fuel cell?
We have a race truck with a Summit Racing fuel cell, and we're trying to find a filler neck kit to extend the filler pipe for easier fueling. Any suggestions? ?

For most race legal applications it must have both a filler check valve and a vent check valve. Score for instance is pretty strict on what tanks are allowed so read the rules for what ever you are trying to enter the vehicle in. There is a material call out and thickness for all tanks, bladder regulations, check valves ect. I have never seen a summit brand on a Dezert truck but agian I'm unsure of what series your shooting for in your build. I know fuel safe is a guarantied shoe in to pass tech, but it must have roll over fuel spill prevention. Good luck with your build
Here's a few brands that should pass tech:
Fuel safe
Atl
Jaz ( only with steel box containment)
Custom ( if bladdered, material thickness call out is met, and rollover prevention)
Most race legal have anti slosh foam, puncture resistant bladder, and containment cell. Refers to your manual.
Well something like that anyway.....

Having some experience with SCORE tech inspections, I can tell you that they don't look all that closely at the cell construction but they do look closely at the vent and vent line routing. In addition all fittings should have some type of rollover shut off or check valve. Does need to have a metal can. The JAZ filler necks do have a flapper arrangement and they are available in many places.
YOU need to make sure that every effort is made to install and plumb the fuel lines and fillers. Think through every possible situation that could occur:
This applies to the cell mounting. Think of how heavy it is when full. Protect with bars and skid plates as needed.
Filler locations. Will they get ripped off if you roll over? Will they spray gas on hot brake rotors or the driver if there is a spill?
Filler type. BFG for example has a very specific filler type they want if you use their pit services. It is helpful having a clear section of tubing coming off the cell for vent and filler lines so you can monitor the fuel flow.
Vent line routing. Needs to go up and around so that regardless of the vehicle position, fuel will not gravity feed out of the cell.
Cell material. Full on rubberized cell bladders in a metal can are preferred but very expensive.
Inspect. Inspect this stuff yourself EVERY time you go out. The rubber and plastic parts will eventually break down and have to be replaced. If you use pump gas with ethanol, these parts will be affected and may even be destroyed by the ethanol.

Thank you all for the information. And thank you 300! Very useful information! I think we've got some of it already accomplished, but there are definitely things to consider for future race types. Thank you again!!!
