It'll hang onto the hub thats in the wheel rolling away from the rest of your truck.... haha no experience but I've heard of cracking on 37s my educated guess is probably not for anything past a mall crawler

That's what I was kinda figuring. So custom knuckles are a must.. Something tells me if the knuckles won't last neither will the axels...

Sry for my incorrect terminology by the way, now when u say u broke 2, broke how? The snout sheared from the knuckle? Tierod ear? Balljoint ears? Just curious. We're they stock?

Reason I ask is used 39's are dirt cheap in comparison.

We have broken 3 D44 spindle snouts with 35's. You can drive around on them but not race safely IMHO.

The spindle normally rips out of the knuckle. Some people have had luck with adding reinforcement plates behind the knuckle.

Ya I remember those plates, more or less I was wondering the common failure to see if it would be worth using backing plates vs machine myself a set of knuckles if I ever decided to run 39's. according to my friend Andy the 39 bfg's are actually 38.5 but regardless its adding stress to everything in the assembly.

39" tires create a lot of issues with the firewall. Specifically the heater box and ECM. I don't know of anyone running them.

Makes sense, it's a lot of tire, I could see that heater box and factory wiring harness being a major obstacle. The time spent reinventing the wheel could be better spent getting overtime to get better shocks rather than a larger tire to help smooth out the bumps.

I've been in a Bronco that managed to pull out the ECU plug just a tiny bit (about 1/8 inch) and that one had 37's. 39's would no doubt create a really big problem, unless it's carbureted. The only one I have seen on 39's is Scott's, from Camburg. It looks pretty bad ass!

I remember watching the extra welding on the 4wd C8. Seems like after each race some maintenance was required after NDT discovered cracks. Don’t remember complete failures?

That ECU is pretty easy to move. I took mine out with 35's!

I have backing plates on mine. I did it for added security with 35s. I think your barking up the wrong tree with the 39s idea. What every gains you are trying to acchieve you'll lose ten fold on reliablilty. Yeah they are really cheap by comparison but thats ccause no one wants them. Its not gonna be cheap with the additional wear and tear created too.

Yeah I'd say that the snout itself would fail before it ripped out of the backing plate.

The stock uprights can bend or break even with a backing ring on them. Stock spindles can bend also.

Personally, I would not run 39's on a D44 ttb. I'd want a D50 ttb for 39's.

Hmmm....there's an idea, I don't think I'm going to get 39's but it would fill the wheel opening up nicely. I think it would look cool though.
