driveshaft/yoke problem

ok so long story short my 8.8 failed quite badly and i was in a rush to find a replacement i found a perfect replacement dirt cheap and just threw it in however like a genius i didnt see the new rearend has a standard yoke while the previous had a flange. the flange on the shaft has been removed and u joint is bolts into the yoke but at the transfer case im about a inch maybe a inch and a half short of it bolting up. i think my driveshaft is maxed although it seems seized (need to pull the boot off and see whats going on in there) but has anyone else discovered a fix for this? im debating on just getting some steel and making a spacer for right now

It should be able to bolt up unless the new pinion yoke is quite a bit shorter. I would try checking the slip spline part of the driveshaft to see if it might be compressed otherwise you might have to swap to the 8.8 flange yoke to be able to install it.

It was shorter and even with it extended its still short. Would a spacer between the tcase flange and the driveshaft flange work until I can get a new shaft made

Did you swap in an 8.8 from another truck? I'm guessing the easiest way to solve the problem is by changing the diff yoke to the flange style yoke. If it's an 8.8, I don't see why it wouldn't bolt up. A spacer would probably work too but I personally wouldn't feel comfortable running it that way.

Yeah I picked it up out of a 93.id rather not change the yoke on the pinion as with my luck I'd still screw up the pinion depth

If its anything like a 9-inch, it should be fine.. I had to remove the pinion nut and yoke on my 9-inch when I changed the seal.
