Equus 3140 Innova Diagnostic Code Scanner for OBDI and OBDII Vehicles


Any of you have experience with Equus products? After some looking around and reading reviews of different scanners, I'm thinking of buying the 3140. For $183 it seems like the best bang for the buck. Thoughts?

I just went to the site and it says it's $674 (YIKES , not you B)... can't be right... I didn't pay anything near that... but it works pretty well.

That's what my brother in law has Tom. He seems to like it. The price on Amazon is just $289. The new 7000 is $249, but neither had great reviews, so I'm unsure there. But I do typically think "If Tom's using it, it must be good!"

This is the one i have and keep in plugged in all the time to monitor MPG's, its really easy to use and small too, about the size of a candy bar.

The ScanGauge is cool. I was considering it, but I really want something that's focused more on the diagnostics end. Aside from the gauging function, it just shows the codes, right?

therein lays your problem... As the great philosopher, John Belushi, once said... "... you F$%ked up, you trusted me..."

I guess the bottom line... find the one that does what you want for the least cost... go for it! Quite frankly, I've found that those reviews are not very accurate, so I take them all with a grain of salt.

Yep, just the codes.

If you are willing to go software and a laptop, my friend uses Autera software with his OBD2 interface and it does ALOT. Look it up, he does vehicle inspections and it tells you sensor readings and all. he says better than any handheld scanner. He says it used to go for $600 but now you can get software and cable for $200

I am the one that Andy asked about the software.. I have used the Auterra for 5 years now and I like the fact its able to read live data from sensors along with checking codes.. Just load it on any pc and go..

That looks like good stuff. Unfortunately I don't have a laptop. Christmas is coming though! Anyway, I went ahead and picked up the one I mentioned above for a couple of reasons. Need OBDI and II...and budget. Looks like a good unit for the money. I'll post some feedback once I've had a chance to test it out. Thanks for the input fellas!!
