exhaust resonators

anybody used one? i like the packaging of my new exhaust, but it drones a bit too much for my taste when i'm on the highway. was thinking something like this on each side of my duals before the muffler:

just curious if anyone has experience with them, if they quiet things down at all or mess with the sound.

If you're gonna do it, try to avoid fiberglass packed, those can burn out overtime and get pretty much just as loud/drone-y as before. Look for stainless wool packed ones if you can find em.

They do work to quiet things down, and do so even better when placed farther back in the exhaust stream. I only have experience with em on my H6 subaru, but plenty of people use em to quiet down aftermarket v8 exhausts that drone on the highway.

A proper resonator is installed between the engine and a muffler, to take away the low tone noise from inside the car. Typically, they do not contain any filling or packing.

I don't think a lot of people use Helmholtz style on "performance" exhausts...
