Mines not a daily driver...we use it as a back up and when we drive it to the dez for the season. I like the low gearing for what I do. It goes plenty fast when off roading...no plans on pre-running it.

Another thing...mine never heats up (knock on wooooooood)...it stays slightly below the 1/4 mark (temp???) all the time!

Nothing new, I have a 4 core in mine and it runs at 184 in cold weather ALOT. I rarely ever see it hit 200, even when I pulled a car hauler filled with dirtbikes and other equipment through julian to ocotillo wells. It hit 200 once and the hill was steep!

302 vs 351:
The 302 and 351 are both viable choices, sure the 351W has more power stock, but you can rev those 302s up and they keep going, and strong. Don't let a 302 scare you away. I have a 302, but I also have a 351W HO block waiting to be rebuilt to drop in and replace my 302 when it comes time. I've been happy with my 302, and have seen STOCK cam 302s with 300 horses. But, I still think the 302 is a car motor.

AOD vs E4OD:
The AOD is a light duty automatic, whereas the E40D is a heavier duty automatic... I have an E40D and have never owned an AOD equipped vehicle but from the information I've gathered, they go well with a 302... In other words, a 302/AOD Foxbody. Not a truck transmission at all. But, you can build them to be tough, and a tranny cooler will more than double the life of it.

Don't take my word as the word of God, just as stuff to contemplate. Everyone on this board I'm positive knows more and has more experience.

My 302/5 speed winds out beautifully and pulls strong, the 302 likes revving. Seems like it has a lot more than 185 horsepower under the hood.
