Aluminum Door Panels
About a year or two ago, I saw someone selling some aluminum door panels for an 92-96 F series on Race Dezert. I have been looking around on the interent and havent found any good photos of any. Do you guys have any good photos of aluminum door panels. Im tired of looking at the inside of my doors.

Re: Aluminum Door Panels
Bronco graveyard has all the parts but its not the cheapest. I'm looking at about 1k to get the interior where I want it to be and that's not including seats, belts, or anything like that.

Re: Aluminum Door Panels
You'd be better off at buying one with a nice interior and taking the parts you need & re-selling or parting it out at that price!
As for the aluminum panels - not the same application but they are pretty easy to make. Here's the template I made for my '74 and then the panels I put in my alfa romeo

Re: Aluminum Door Panels
what? I's just a bit dusty! Oh, and that's due to having no windows...
It's a "racecar"! yeah right, but it was in a fire so much of the interior was thrashed so it's getting a fiberglass dash, a cage, race seats & it'll be a fun driver!

Re: Aluminum Door Panels
I dont want plastic replacements. I dont have a top or windows in the doors. I only drive it on the street to get gas or to go to the desert. Its 80% desert rig. I like those panels youv'e done. I think ill have to do something like that.

Re: Aluminum Door Panels
If you can find some 1/8in sheets of aluminum you won't have to bead roll them, I did some pannels in a vw and riveted them on lol. Looked really clean.

Re: Aluminum Door Panels
.125" sure is rigid enough for no bead roll. So is .080" with less weight.
Some guys use .035" and bead roll for race car stuff as it weighs nothing.
Personally I use .065" and bead roll it. It's light enough and yet still rigid enough without the bead roll. Still I always bead roll them for a little extra rigidity and of course the bling points...
They are pretty easy to make with a stock door panel to use as a template or even without.
I use nutserts in the factory holes where the christmas tree clips went for ease of location and less drilling.

Re: Aluminum Door Panels
Would be cool to see someone use aluminum and kind of emulate the shape of the factory panels. Such a common problem for the plastic panels to crack and no solution other than new plastic panels.
Re: Aluminum Door Panels
How about some fiberglass door panels? I could make that happen if enough people are interested.
