That would be my first part of the conversion, get it all done BEFORE you go stroker. Nothing is harder than trying to convert it to run better AND sorting out a new bigger engine. He is kinda hard to get hold of, but if you were ready to pull the trigger on buying what you need, he will help you no end with the CORRECT parts to do the job. Then camshaft choices will increase dramatically with mass-air and will really wake the stroker up. A 392 stroker kit in a 5.8 is a good choice, just keep in mind the factory block can only handle so much. Look forward to seeing you progress with it. :D

I lost almost 2mpg going to mass air. and it runs worse. i hope that geting it tuned will help alot... btw my bronco wieghs almost exactly 5k. and within 100 pounds of being 50/50...

Thanks for the heads up Rod. Luckily I have a spare 5.0L Mustang ECU (from my young days) so one of their harnesses should work out just fine. It says they use a Mustang's ECU from 89-93. I once did a Mass Air conversion on my 87 Mustang but the only thing it involved was swapping in the newer harness and ECU and since the engine was from my wrecked 89, it worked perfectly. I think for this one it involves splicing wires together but it shouldn't be too hard.

How about a new thread on engine management so we don't derail this one?

Sorry about that, I'm easily distracted. To get back on track though, what are some of the brand of gears you guys are running?

You guys make this so fun!

Wasn't sure what to go with 4.56 or 4.88 for the 5.8/E4OD/33x12.50 but this sounds like 4.56's and I should pull around 12-14MPG and have plenty of juice on the dirt!

4.56 with 33's is a good combo but I ran 33's for awhile with 4.88s too and other than freeway speeds it was great. IRC even with OD on the 33s 70 was pushing 3200rpms or so haha but surprisingly my mileage didnt change much I currently get about 14 on the highway and if I am towing my trailer about 10 in the dirt maybe 8 ....the 4.56 also works with 35s if you decide to upgrade later

On the dirt, pop it into second gear, and it pulls great!!

In the sand, do not know yet, probably will be lacking.....
I have the same setup! I just switched tires from 33's, so the jury's still out on power and mileage. But according to the FSB "gears, gears, gears" thread it's 5% over stock.

I should update since that post I have gone to 4.56. Love it more than the 4.10s

Hey guys...

Didn't want to start a new thread, but I found this side by side calculator that takes into account trans and tcase combos and breaks it down further than I've seen anywhere else. I think it's pretty cool

My EB has the car gear set AOD, 4.88s, and 35s and I consider it a dog off the line. Maybe the truck AODE gear set would help.

for me with 4.88s 35s and the E4OD off the line is great even with a tired motor....I have heard that the AOD robs a bunch of power but I have o experience with that tranny.

4.10s suck for me daily driving. 80 is 2500 which is my power band and thats not where i want to be. Im going 4.88s as i want to tow and 4.10s make 3rda gear a dog.
I'm just here for the views. It helps me feel wanted.

Holy Crap! I've been driving slightly over 2500 with 3.55s and 35's... I guess now I know I must have been going at least over 80 to be passing sports cars while turning just over 2700 RPMs  My speedo isn't hooked up so I've been winging it. It sure drives nice at 2500 with the C6.
