That depends on length of shackle. There are shorter ones (like the one you make?) that allows just clearancing if I remember right. I'd have to go look at the 87 to remember right. I know on the trucks you can either stick with a really short shackle and not mess with anything, go with a longer shackle and clearance a bit, or go with a really long shackle and cut through the bed. All depends on hanger placement too but I'm assuming in this case we're talking leaving it in the stock spot.

You can always lower the rear hanger to get the shackle clearance.

I have the Camburg shackles, and had to trim only a 1/4" or so on one side only. Can there be that much of a difference between one truck and another?

Thats wierd because I just put Kiefers shackles on my bronco which are an inch shorter and I have maybe an 1/8" or less between the shackle and the bottom of the support for the body.

My hunch is worn out body mounts can have an impact on the amount of clearance.

I was able to fit Autfab extended length shackles and the only clearancing I had to do was shave down the body seam. No structural metal removed.

Wait until you guys see the Solo shackles. Now those things are long but they use a drop bracket.
