Cab mounted dust lights/chase lights

Alright so the wife wants a fancy center high mounted dust light on the cab of our F150 (where a 3rd brake light would be if it came with one). I know there’s a few companies out there who have come out with composite or metal light housings that replace the 3rd brake and cargo lights on the later F-series’ and Broncos, but has anyone had success mounting one of these on an earlier F-series like my ‘93 that only came with the small cargo light? I’m not opposed to drilling into the cab to fit the wider housing but what other modifications other than wiring have you found it needed? Larger opening on the sheetmetal maybe to accommodate more pigtails for more lights? And who makes the best bang for the buck housing on the market? I’m open to running BD S2’s, KC Cyclones, or other brand lights for the dust/cargo setup. Might consider adding a functional 3rd brake light too.

Totally willing to pay for one, I called the Rugged customer support line yesterday cuz I was wondering how it would fit up to a truck like mine that didn’t come with a 3rd brake light and what cutting or drilling if any would be needed. Hoping to hear back soon.

I like it, nice and simple. I actually have a couple Whelen lights like this off decommissioned rigs at my work but I’m wanting to add more lights to the truck without making it ‘look’ like there’s more lights if that makes any sense

I was able to pull the CHMSL and run the wiring up next to it's wiring. Actually was pretty simple to do.

For an older truck like yours I think that I'd just make a plate that mounted in place of the bed light, and then mount the amber to that plate.

Yeah I had thought about that, would keep things low profile for sure. I’m sure I could find someone that’s better with metal work than I am to make me one haha

I had the opportunity to follow a guy who had two of them mounted to his LR's roof rack. They have multiple flashing modes, but I use mine with no flashing. I was surprised at how far away I could see his. I read somewhere that when flashing they're some small percentage brighter than when just solid on, but as I could see his, thru his dust, at about nearly a mile away I'm thinking it's bright enough....
