Re: Ball joints
Amazon taxes in CA too by the way. Well, parts sold by Amazon themselves vs. a 3rd party selling through Amazon. Just pay attention to the listing shipping & tax costs listed 7 you can often find the same part sold by another vendor without the tax.

Re: Ball joints
Raybestos, which purchased the chassis division of Spicer (which used to be the best), cheapened the quality of their steering parts. I wouldn't be surprised if the same has happened with ball joints.

Re: Ball joints
Im pretty sure that since Spicer sold their undercar division, they're all equally bad.
OE if you want top quality. Otherwise, buy a "premium" line part and call it a day.

The Raybestos units are now sold under the ACDelco name as of a few years ago:VintageIronFab wrote:Price those BJ out on the web. I thought th Raynestos Premium and NAPA units were the same but I could be wrong ????

Still much less expensive via rock auto as compared to Napa if you can don't need them NOW.
We put a set in the race Bronco before this year's NORRA race - haven't checked them since to see how they held up.
Last fall I was doing some front end work on my EB and discovered 1 or 2 of the ~4-5 year old blue boots had some play them so I replaced them. That seems to be about what I get out of most brands on my truck. I still think the blue boots hold up well and will continue to use them.

Re: Ball joints
I recently bought full sets of spicer, AC delco (napa blues) and TCX (recommended from a ball joint manufacturer I work with on ball joints i Have made)...TCX was hands down winner out of the box. FInish, press tool included and it is a metal on metal joint so as long as it is kept greased should last a while. Time will only tell. The spicer and blue boots got sent back. Ive always ran blue boots but decided to change it up.
Give the TCX joints a look. They dont have a big name in the industry but their extreme duty green boot joints are very nice out of the package.

Re: Ball joints
Thanks for the info. I like the clip and the larger flange on the joints. Comments don't sound too positive but the average IQ of most posters on things like this isn't real high. Will look forward to hearing of your experiences with them.

Re: Ball joints
Those look like a nice part only abuse will determine actual quality. Why do they have to use green boots

Re: Ball joints
Building a new set of beams, plan to re-use only the diff assembly itself so I need a set of ball joints. I had found the blue boot joints at Rock Auto, but they also have the TTX joints for only about $10 more for the set. Have looked at the Synergy, did not see an obvious set of p/n's to fit a TTB. I'm already spending way more than I planned on, what's a few hundred more if they're that much better.

Went with TTX but a month and 2 trips to the dirt doesn't tell much. How have they worked for you guys with more time on them
