Re: Steering wheels!
Patience darlin', patience. I got the Grant 690 wheel and horn button delivered yesterday. Still waiting on the adapter, however, the wheel came with a short adapter so Im gonna tear into it all tomorrow and see how it fits. The billet adapter wasnt "Prime", so I have to wait like its 1985......

Steering wheels!
Got the hub in today. What are your guys thoughts on these aluminum splines? Makes me think horrible thoughts of them stripping while doing 60mph through a wash....

Ha! Like my Bronco could do 60 through the wash!! lol I crack myself up.

Steering wheels!
I torn into the old wheel this morning. Splines on the old wheel look better but still pretty slim.

I'm gonna go ahead with the hub and see how it plays out. The clock spring doesn't adapt or fit under the new hub, so no way to wire the horn. Kinda bummed I spent $26 on a Ford horn button I can't use, but at least it looks cool. That's all that important right?! It all bolted up without any other issues. I got a lil over zealous with the impact and over tightened the stem bolt so the hub rubs a little bit on the column. Not an issue and will self clearance after the hub wears in a small groove. Maybe 1/16" if that.

Looks sweet Chris, really updates the interior. Getting super close to giving in and swapping an old Grant wheel I originally bought for the Monarch into my F150..

Re: Steering wheels!
To help those looking for adding a wheel and keeping the CC there is a guy named George Gast and he says:
"You can txt me at 678-eight eight two-4278. That’s my cell. I make the cruise control plates and the retainer caps that go on the back of the buttons. I charge $225.00 plus shipping and I accept paypal. You have to cover their fees or pay as a friend/gift. I can send you pictures if you like. Just txt me."
His FB name is George Gast to reach him there.
Does anybody have the button part numbers to make this thread a slam dunk for those looking to do this?

Re: Steering wheels!
If anyone gets a kit from George - take pics. He machines them & I want to see why. Willie has one of these & I was thinking of borrowing it, measuring it & making a cad file to have parts laser cut. Wondering if the things really need to be machined for some reason, or if I know the cut thickness on the laser if I could just adjust the cad file for it & be fine.

Re: Steering wheels!
Thanks. If you do I'll just make the cad file so it's here if needed. Based on what I've seen of yours (pics) I don't get why these would need to be machined. I'm interested to see why Goerge machines them. Other than he's a machinist by trade, so that's just how he does things. I'm also interested in seeing what his finished piece looks like for the $225 price tag.

Re: Steering wheels!
You laser the a-dapter...machine the button pockets. I really hope he is not actually machining the whole thing unless he has a machine shop but not a sheetmetal shop!ChaseTruck754 wrote:If anyone gets a kit from George - take pics. I was going to make a kit but then I realized the stock wheel is pretty damn nice.

Re: Steering wheels!
Got it. I'm racecar fabulous and could care less about the finishing touches of button pockets if they add cost. Makes sense right - becuz you know, race cars have cruise control!
