Re: Handheld Radios.... what is everyone using!
I also used the CHIRP programming software. Do yourself a favor and don't mess with the factory software! uploadfromtaptalk1398058021188.jpg The blue is purty but Rugged is charging about 2X for them over what you can buy the regular UV-5Rs for on Amazon. Todd Z. I paid 43 dollars on Amazon for min...

Re: Handheld Radios.... what is everyone using!
Well I wanted to post some feedback about this little Baufong radio Paul mentioned....Bottom Line is that it kicks butt! I do need to make afew changes to programming in channel mode since I apparantly have something goofed as I can transmit but not recieve. Shifted over to manual programming and it...

Re: Handheld Radios.... what is everyone using!
What is cool about a hand held is get the options. Throat mike, earplug. Push to talk button for your shirt collar. Set up like that you can wander around the pit and talk to the driver and still have hands free for wrenches etc. Frequently the co-dog is setup like this and the driver can give dire...

Re: Handheld Radios.... what is everyone using!
Amazon has a low cost VHF/UHF handheld radio that I'm hearing good things about. Cheaper than a CB or GMRS with better quality reception. Check it out. Also there are a couple of antennas that provide up to 3db gain. http://www.amazon.com/Baofeng-UV5RA-136-174-Dual-Band-Transceiver/dp/B009MAKWC0/re...

Re: Koh style IRS hub discussion.
I like the idea but I dont think the 934s would hold up in the rocks with 37-42" tires...the front axles on the 4454 are huge as well as the CVs I am not sure of the specific size but I know RCV makes them and I believe pro am does as well. I had to pick up some parts from them before KOH last year....

Re: Koh style IRS hub discussion.
RMC...transaxle costs are expensive even in our little 9 car it adds up quick...Just based on working with the Ultra 4 car an IFS 4x4 with a live axle rear is actually a nice setup. The front suspension is a large upfront cost but if built right from the start it is not a high maint cost area. Outsi...

Desert Concepts in victorville 760-530-3107 not sure how soon you are wanting to get started but once KOH is over Bryan should be able to get you going for a good price and he does good work without breaking the bank. Let him know Jeremy referred you.
