The short answer is “yes, this is an all volunteer activity” and “no, gas money, etc, is not reimbursed”. You are fed at the pit, and the club puts on regular bbq/shrimp/burger & beer things. Broncodawg, it does. We started going after a chance meeting with a Mag7 pit member. We went with him and worked in a pit, and have been going ever since. The trip is now part of the fun. We do it in one jump, around 16 to 18 hours I think to San Diego.
