Re: Kav's '96 AKA "Moby Dick"

So I come home today to a little surprise. As I pull up into the driveway I find these Just sitting there: http://kavanaughmp.smugmug.com/Cars/White-Bronco/tires/1187967378_oQ2a8-L.jpg They were not supposed to get here until tomorrow, so I'm pretty happy. So I load up three of them and grab the thr...

Re: Kav's '96 AKA "Moby Dick"

Ya, I'm a little bent over it. But in the end it's a minor thing. As far as the antennas go, I already have 4 holes in the metal part of the roof. 3 are for antennas. The last one is just covered with clear silicone. I'm guessing that the FD used the siliconed hole to run the wires to the emergency ...

Re: Kav's '96 AKA "Moby Dick"

Well, what do you know? One of the rims I was sent has the wrong bolt pattern (the one on the upper left in the pic above). It looks to be a 5x4.5. Good thing I checked them before I mounted tires on them. So I'm going to see how long that is going to take to sort out. Lucky me, I have one more matc...

Re: Kav's '96 AKA "Moby Dick"

Unrelated to the radio, I got these over the weekend, 15"x8". I have some General Grabbers that should be here by Tuesday. So I'm hoping by Thursday I will have them mounted and on the Bronco.

Re: Kav's '96 AKA "Moby Dick"

Sorry, by roof I met the middle of the metal roof. I was thinking the antenna had to be for the most part in the middle of a metal ground plane. Learn something new every day.

Re: Kav's '96 AKA "Moby Dick"

Really? I thought that you wanted to have the antenna in the middle of the roof. That way it has metal surrounding it. That's good to know then.

Kav's '96 AKA "Moby Dick"

Nothing too big, I added a radio to the Bronco. I'm going to call Rugged Radios on Monday and get some mounts for the antennas. The fire department cut out half of the wiring for them. Plus where the antenna screws on has seen better days. I have some tires on the way and some other odds and ends co...

Looking around the interwebz it looks like that part is no longer made. But if you didn't have a part number here it is: F5TZ-9B659-F Your dealer may be able to stock check other dealers for it. Otherwise it's a junk yard part.

Re: And here I am...

I'm out in Havelock. I've already done some work to it. I put some manual hubs and will be ordering some General Grabber tires on Friday to match the one I'm using as a spare. It still had the stock spare from 1996 so that was the first thing to go. Next on the list is to do something with t...

New'ish to Broncos and currently displaced from the desert, but I'm working on it. (I used to live in Ridgecrest.) I have have '96 Bronco with a 351 that I picked up for a song out here in NC. For some reason all the hillbillys think anything that is 4x4 is worth its weight in gold. And God forbid i...
