Mastercraft Baja RS Pair - For Sale
I have a brand new pair of these seats for sale, still with the tags on them. I mounted them in my truck, drove maybe 5 miles max, and although they are comfortable I’ve decided to go another direction. They also were upgraded with adjustable lumbar and rear zipper pockets. Located in Northern Calif...

8.8 disc brake conversion help needed
Actually I’m thinking about it again and it might have been the actual shoe tapping on it. For some reason the shoe gets pulled outwards at some point in the wheel’s revolution and then released and it falls back into position.

Did you install the Explorer parking brake also? Does the noise continue when you are on the brakes? For me it would stop as soon as I touched the brakes. I have a Bronco 8.8 in my Mountaineer with stock rear disc brakes and developed a horrible clicking noise too after a wheeling trip, and I went c...

Are those any special kind of Jerry cans on the back? Do they leak at all and does elevation change make them impossible to open ever?

Cracked 8.8 Spring Perches – What to do?
As the cheapest/easiest fix, or at least a bandaid, you could just box in the perches front and back, and even extend the additional plates out past the sides as gussets. Right now all the force is being concentrated on just those two edges, so having more weld surface area would help disperse it. S...

Sorry if this comes across as near-hoarder status, but I have a few things that I hate to throw away if they can be of some use to someone or save someone some money as core exchanges: -(2) D44 brake calipers that mount with slider pins, 1 looks to be in good shape but the other has a torn seal arou...

2000 Mercury Mountaineer Build
Thought I'd report back in here, the TTB Mountaineer is pretty much complete for now. Took it for its maiden voyage on the Rubicon from Tahoe to the springs. Helluva way to test out a project this big, but had a blast. Broke a D44 outer shaft right before getting to camp at the springs and a hub wen...

Transmission coolers
Cool thanks, a friend also mentioned to me that it's another potential failure point, I just wanted to see what people who have been doing this for a lot longer thought.

I agree with the statement that the puller fan is better than a pusher. The cooler in that picture did not work that well in the sand dunes at Glamis. I pulled it and put a True Line 45,000 GVW Trans cooler without a fan and it works so much better. The trans does not go above 180° anymore, even on...

Thanks Pat. Got my second pair of shocks finally, began mounting the steering ram and got all the hydraulic lines figured out. I'm using a Tractor Supply 8" that's been shortened to I think about 6" stroke. It's a freebie from a friend, and another friend has the same ram on his TTB front end and it...

Re: 2000 Mercury Mountaineer Build
Sat the truck down on the ground today finally! A couple of weeks ago I redid the cross brace in a simpler design. Today I finished plating in the bump stops and mounted limit straps on one side, and I'll do the other side tomorrow. I'm not sure I have the optimal spring rates right now, or at least...

Modified my pitman arm today. Drilled out the taper to 3/4" and sleeved it with tubing so I can run a 5/8" bolt. Then double sheared the heim joints and plated it all in. I'm fairly new to TIG welding so I'm loving how I'm finally seeing real improvement being made and being able to actually apply i...

Re: 2000 Mercury Mountaineer Build
Setup swing steering this weekend. Still need to double shear the pitman arm and set up the hydraulic assist ram. http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u122/mounty71/6D368C6D-48B7-4ECE-A280-E27EAFD523B9_zpsw5eq4rk4.jpg http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u122/mounty71/84C0622B-A4BE-4D20-82A1-1A80BA19E5C...

Re: 2000 Mercury Mountaineer Build
Glad you guys are enjoying it. Seems like it's becoming pretty popular to swap TTB under different vehicles these days, although most go for the D44 beams. And on the radius arms the round bottom tube is 1.75"x.120", and the rectangular tube is 2"x5"x3/16". For the vertical tube that the bolt goes t...
