Re: Hollander's New Bronco
FYI RCVs only work for stock beams OR extended Cut&Turn beams. They will NOT fit in stock Cut&Turn beams. I've got a pic of that $1500 question and it sucked cuz I wanted those shafts bad (sure insert joke
)!

Re: Hollander's New Bronco
I had to clearance my passenger side diff yoke significantly, I had to cut the axle shaft, and I had to get creative on welding the cap to get full travel. The most deceptive part was you can drop your beams and a welded cap will hold. But if you dropped your beams before you put axles shafts in, th...

Re: Carly's 96
Once you get the pinion, you'll adjust the carrier shims for backlash. This will change some things and might require you to change your pinion shims again. But that's why you only focus on the pinion given you set your carrier shims roughly close and tight. So after the pinion adjustments, it's gam...

Re: Carly's 96
Don't worry about the backlash until you're at the last steps and get that pattern lookin spot on. Just focus on that pinion and pattern otherwise It'll keep you there for hours if you're changing the carrier shims. You're so close! This is also why I suggested to go to deep and shallow so you get a...

Re: 87 Full Size - A Solo Man's Solo Build Story
Ok maybe not Bronco related but this was fun. I have this fire suit so I can stand in basically a lake of fire (professional reasons) BUT what a perfect time to bust it out when hittin up Walmart, Walgreens, and Safeway right now :D It was awesome but I'm thankful people found it hilarious vs. freak...

Re: Carly's 96
The Auburn Pros I have up front and rear really do lock up the whole time except when you need them to release in a turn. It's also rebuildable. I'm pretty sure an open carrier will get you out of most anything with the right line and driver skillz tho ;) I watched my Auburns a few times when the ti...

Re: Carly's 96
I can't remember if you need the baffle in but I think you do.... Either way, yes def do setup bearings to both sides of the pinion too. It's the D44 so you have 4 points of adjustment and each one will change the other when reading your pattern. That's why I suggested going too far in and out, basi...

Re: Carly's 96
Even a knock off should be good :) Just a suggestion but do what you're gonna do and get it in spec hopefully in 1 shot. Since you want this to be the last time you have to pull the diff, set it too far out, and then too far in and read patterns each time. You'll walk away knowing more but really, y...

Re: Carly's 96
My understanding and at least the last 2 sets of gears I bought was the industry stopped marking the pinion depth because customers were focusing on that and just adding the difference in shims and sending it without actually verifying things then things explode. This resulted in a lot of unwarrante...

Re: Carly's 96
Even if you never do this again, you'll be so thankful you make setup bearings. You'll guard them so close, you won't even want to let your friends know you have them....

Re: The BroncO 'Bama Build
While the others vendors may be prettier, it's cuz they have jigs and do it all day with a dedicated crew. You may not have the best welds but they're good enough for what you want. If you're gonna do cut&turn, you might want to practice a bit more for those life critical welds pie cut welds but you...

Re: Carly's 96
Yeah that's why I shared a couple resources cuz it took about 3 separate stories telling you 3 separate ways of doing things. From there I just took the bits here and there and came up with my own 4th process :D Patience is key, strength only really comes involved with that pinion preload nut :D :\ ...
