Re: The Clapper 8
What year Mustang harness would be the easiest to work with? This project has hit the back burner since I picked up Zambo's KORE Dodge.

Re: The Clapper 8
I've been working on the wiring and trying to figure out what to do with this thing. The engine compartment wiring is a hacked mess and I'm mounting the MSD in the cab and adding Glass fenders so that adds a little challenge to the project. When it comes to wiring I am in way over my head. The inter...

If you mean by factory "slightly rusty" yes it's 31 yr old factory. I'm pretty sure black interior was offered...if that's what we're talking about. He drives an Alfa and I'm the one being made fun of

Re: The Clapper 8
An old Alfa?! You are a sick bastard. Actually I really like them but have never wanted to take on the challenge of Alfa ownership. A few years ago there were some guys up here that ran a GT V6 rally car. Talk about a labor of love. Sounded kick ass but rarely finished. I found the thread on the red...

LMAO! I've noticed you have your own definition of "good looking".
How come I don't have any neighbors like that?!

Safety Tip: Never start your build thread after being out drinking Margaritas. With the light of day I'm glad I didn't mis-spell a bunch of stuff and generally made sense. I've got a rear suspension/ shock question for the group. How long a shock will fit under the bed and how much travel can you ge...

Here is a picture of the front bumper after both Super Oscar lenses fell out during the 2006 1000. Loctite is your friend.

The Clapper 8
Here it is the beginning of the 1980 Flareside build. The truck was pretty clean with no rust, slammed with a bad tranny and a 302 out of a 79 LTD. I swapped in a 1974 or so vintage 351W from Galaxy. The heads are stock, Edlebrock Performer intake, Edelbrock 600 dfm carb ,2 1/2" long tube headers. T...

Re: 99 Expedition suspension
The truck was slammed when I picked it up with no 3rd gear or reverse and puking tranny fluid. Its straight with no rust and had a 302 from a 79 or so LTD in it. I had an 83 bronco with a 351W. I swapped motors and sold the bronco with the 302. The Bronco was pretty clean but I always wanted a Flare...

Re: 99 Expedition suspension
After looking around it appears swapping standard coils in the back isn't that big a deal and maybe a spacer in with the coil. The air suspension definitely needs to go. I found a company called Strutmasters that makes a replacement coilover shock for the front and coils that replace the rear air ba...

99 Expedition suspension
Hey guys, I've got a 99 Expedition with the 5.4, Eddie Bauer, full time 4x4, air ride suspension. The truck has about 210,000 and still runs really well but the front end wallows badly. I put new bilsteins on the rear and that calmed things down in back. The front set up is air strut and torsion bar...

Re: Underhood Placement
Thanks for posting the pics. There will be no grief from me over creative use of zip ties. It really isn't that hard to add a couple flat plates to mount stuff. Since mine is an 80 There is a lot less stuff on the fenderwells. The battery is going in back so I don't need to worry about supporting th...

What year are you working on? I might have you throw them all in a box and send them to me. Give you something for them and pay the postage.

PS I think I've been to your house in Yuma. I was doing the 1000 with Greer's, Kerr and assorted characters and we stopped one night on the way.

Re: 8.8 to 9" swap info on driveshaft and u joint
Hey guys I have the opposite circumstance. I've got an 80 F 100 Flareside 2wd (Clapper 8) that I am building. Auto Fab Bent Beams in front, still figuring out the rear. I'll be taking it to Nichols Fab in Tucson for the rear suspension work and a lot of other stuff. He has a set of the 3" wide F150 ...

Re: Underhood Placement
Curious how you finally sorted this? I'll be facing the same question on the Clapper 8, the 80 F100 Flareside, 2wd I'm building. I've got Auto Fab's bent beam kit on the front and found early 80s style Auto Fab fenders and hood on Craigslist here in the Portland area for $240!

Are the 350 parts a direct bolt in?
