Re: Fox 2.0 performance shocks
i have a set of Fox 2.0 resi shocks on my 1978 Flareside 4x4. The setup is similar to the Bronco, but straight axle, not IFS, and a 4" spring. They are 10" stroke with stems or bayonet top mounts. I had to move the bottom mount lower to get the travel right. I had enough room to get the shock beside...

Re: 2000 Mercury Mountaineer Build
This thing is bad ass. The tire carrier looks stout. I am on the fence over building a carrier, or keeping the tire underneath the bed.

Re: Mounty71's Introduction
Welcome, it is good to see you here. These guys are a great bunch of folks. You should consider starting a thread for your truck as it sits now so everyone can see your work. I would like to see that rear tire carrier on the stock skinned bumper, and the 4.5+ front.

Re: 62 F100
I'm interested to see how you set the rear shocks up. I have 2.5 12" SAWs outside the frame on my Mountaineer, and even with a Bronco 8.8 there is barely clearance when articulated, and travel is limited to 12". I hope you can figure out a way to make them work well though, I love seeing Explorers ...

Re: 62 F100
Currently the underside of the truck is getting painted. The front end is mostly painted. I have been under the truck for two days straight with a power washer, wire brushes, and putty knives knocking off crud. http://i905.photobucket.com/albums/ac251/johncharlesb/IMG_0577.jpg Some 12" SAW shocks po...

Re: Shock pressures
As I understand it, no pressure in a reservoir shock will cause it to cavitate with high shaft speed. When I order new schrader valves the tech told me that low pressure will cause seal leaks. Interesting display of mission creep.Travisfab wrote:I guess one TTB Ford was not enough for me. Just picked this up. Going to keep it simple and build it old school style. No Led's, no coilovers, no fiberglass.
The work and truck looks great.
What are the plans with the A arm truck?

Re: 62 F100
The internal bypass shocks are in, cycled, and did a test run. It is a tight fit to get around the axles, arms, and hvac or brakes with such a long 2.5 shock. I still need a cross brace since the shock towers are so tall. Everything will have to come back apart for paint. I will use TSC equipment pa...

Re: 62 F100
The front end will cycle just over ten without axles and around eight with. The axle inner tripod joint will bind on the axle shaft as it comes around during full droop. A tripod joint theoretically cycles up to 26 degrees, vibrating after around 15 degrees. So drive height will be at 15 degrees and...

A buddy is a head machinist at a local tier one shop and a bit of an eccentric hoarder. He helped me countersink my rod ends for the shocks. Here are some of his tools in his back shed. I dragged this back from Pennsylvania. It lived a previous life aboard a naval ship: http://i905.photobucket.com/a...

Somewhere on GFB is a thread I started on the Off-Road Magazine article on the Spirit-built F150. It includes some photos of the under-bed shock mounts. Thread: http://www.gofastbroncos.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2853 Veneer will peel when it gets wet. Solid oak is pretty bad ass for wood. If you wa...

Re: 5.8 Nagging Issues
The pump has a crush sleeve that can get damaged during pulley changes (prying of the pulley against the pump housing). It will result in the pulley riding out too much and usually tearing the a rib off the belt. The pulley shaft will have notably forward and aft movement, excessive thrust clearance...

Re: Has anyone run Raptor FOX's on their BRONCO?
I just picked up a set of fronts to use in my a arm setup, and have to rebuild them as soon as the parts come in. The fronts are 7" travel with the reservoir underneath resulting in a 30" shock, instead of a typical 18" shock for a 6.65 travel Bilstein 7100 class 11 type. I was planning on using the...

73-96 f1 short is 117", 38" wide nominal at the tank. The 65-72 f1 is 115" with the extra two inches taken out of the cab and 34" wide (SAE width). 58-64 f1 is 115" and f11 is 120"; both are 34" wide and neither has a rail drop under the cab..
