Re: Gear drive timing install
went well, looks like I had the gear already on the pin but I didn't have the timing cover seated properly. Everythings back together and runs good. knock sensor is still hooked up and I don't feel any retardation, but the sensor may be bad already. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=8728011094146...

Re: Gear drive timing install
no slot for a key, just a thrust washer on the back and a bolt on the front for the camshaft gears. The truck is a '90 f150 with a 302, so it doesn't need the fuel pump cam but, I wasn't sure if the FP cam also helped the gear from slipping but like you said, it only has 1 tab that keeps itself from...

Gear drive timing install
I'm installing a gear drive in place of the timing chain but, there's no key or anything on the camshaft. do I reuse the "manual fuel pump disc" that is bolted on the camshaft? I bolted it on without using it but figure I should double check with you guys before bolting the engine back together. Wha...

Re: question on electric fan swap
i'll take pics and give a little write up once I install it, but I'm using a 2 speed 16" fan with a 17.5"x21.5" shroud from a pt cruiser non-turbo. Dorman 620-022 the adj. fan switch controller would work great but in my case, I'm doing this as cheap as possible. After more research I'm going to use...

question on electric fan swap
I'm getting ready to do an electric fan swap but I have a question about the radiator temperature fan switch.
Is there a plug on the block or heads that is a specific spot for the switch?
Is the normal thing to do, just to use the switch from a 5.0 thunderbird?
what did any of you do?
thanks

Re: LED Conversion Bulbs
LED bulbs don't effect the blinking speed on a '90 F-150, not sure if it's the same with broncos. I have tested a few 3157 LED bulbs. certain 3157 will not fit the tail light harness as the bulbs base was made too bulky, it will require cutting out the inside of the plug, even then I don't know if i...

Re: Anyone running an overdrive pulley on your altenator?
I'm running the $35 kit on my truck http://www.summitracing.com/parts/sum-329600/overview/make/ford/model/f-150/year/1990 the alternator stops charging right at idle, sometimes it stays charging, most of the time not. This is with the stock 2g alternator, I plan on swapping to the 3g soon to see if ...

Re: Moog Caster - Camber Adjuster bushings for Bronco Ball joint
I have the 2 piece on mine with no problems. I do my own alignments though. The only way it's turning out of adjust is if the ball joints nut wasn't torqued down.

Re: Weird ... hiccup while driving
my truck had a similar problem and I had 3 leaking capacitors in the ecm. other likely problems could be bad contacts in the ignition switch, loose/corroded fuses, or possibly, loose throttle body valves lol

Re: Aftermarket throttle bodys. Is bigger better? 56mm or 61mm
For force fed, whatever has less restriction from the valves to the turbo/procharger is good, starting with the cam first of course. here's a good write up and some "figuratively speaking" charts to get the OP thinking. http://www.stangnet.com/mustang-forums/threads/anyone-want-to-discuss-throttle-b...

Re: Aftermarket throttle bodys. Is bigger better? 56mm or 61mm
with larger throttle bodies you'll lose throttle response and normally see no HP. You'll notice they use the same throttle body of a 302 on a 460. There's calculators out there for you to do the math of airflow through your intake and heads to see what works best for you, but I wouldn't go larger un...

Re: The cheap trick-flow heat spacer
PCV valve in the back. the fix for this is to use Gates 18030 hose, then cut to size. There is no way I'm going to be able to give a good example of how it drives, because holy shit I now have a ton of throttle response! and I assume it's because I fixed the butterflies, the injectors are probably p...

Re: The cheap trick-flow heat spacer
so I've got most of it together. You'll only have to extend a couple spots. The PCV hose in the back, plenum support on the passenger side of the engine, and maybe the egr tube. This is where I stopped because I replaced the egr tube, and when I pulled out the old one, it was so caked with oil that ...

Re: The cheap trick-flow heat spacer
so some people call them yellow tops, some people call them orange tops. Looks like they come on 5.0/5.8/4.6 and probably a couple other engines '93-2000 ish for the 4 hole nozzle design. If you're looking to buy a set, double check they're 4 hole before you take my word for it.
