Re: Bishop to Bodie
Thanks for posting my pics Nick. The campfire pic with the dogs is where we'll be camping Friday night overlooking Mono Lake. This all dirt route is a huge loop with only a couple miles of overlap right outside of Bishop. Lots of fast graded road, sandy two track and some slower mountain two track t...

Re: Bishop to Bodie
Hi, not sure if that would be a very good fit for an overland trip like this. Planning some miles into it that requires making some good time to get it done.
Don't know how you're willing to drive with your camper though, so?

Re: Mint 400
Worked qualifying and pit B for BITD and will never miss another qualifying...WOW. Was flagging the corner that had the huge hole in it all the cars came flying out of . Check out the Qualifying video on RDC and bitd, I think and the first three shots are all cars coming right at me out of control!!...

Re: Bishop to Bodie
Hey guys bout time I checked in, but love being off the computer since retirement!!!haha. Thanks Nick for getting this rolling! Working on a killer loop adventure that doesn't overlap at all and we'll only be crossing blacktop 6 times by my rough calcs. Don's map is roughly what I had in mind for Fr...

Re: Newb recommendations.
No pics sorry and center console and seats are out right now, but cb is under dash and vhf is in the Tuffy center console. They have cbs now that are only about 4 inches wide and a little more deep and they are easy to mount because of it. Get a cheap CB as even the pricey ones only put out 5 watts

Re: Newb recommendations.
I gotcha, so if I'm going to a trailing event that is geared towards fun like the easter jeep safari, or mudfest, then a CB is the way to go. If the event is a more serious competition event, like the best in the desert, or Koh, then a ham radio or vhf radio is the way to go. Am I on the right trac...

Re: Newb recommendations.
Many jeep/offroad clubs run CB radios as simple and cheap. Many clubs are evolving into ham radio because of the far greater range available from the higher quality and power radios. This GFB group and desert racing in general use what are called "Businees band" radios and or ham radios modified to ...

Re: Oldbaja. Chase
Nice score Rob and good chasing too you! No perfect grills, but do have all the square headlight parts to swap from round if you want to go that way and strike out in SD area? Will keep eyes out for a grill too. Not worried about chasing with 2X only?

Re: DUSY ERSHIM TRAIL - AUG '15
Good on you Yikes!, Anything can be fixed. From the looks of some of the war wounds, the straight axle guys on the above run weren't too worried about body damage.

To get an idea of the run, Yikes pic with the white jeep in the rocks is on Thompson Hill and it's probably as rough as it gets on the trail!

Re: DUSY ERSHIM TRAIL - AUG '15
I was thinking of a trip towards Mammoth/June Lake area this summer but body damage was not in the plan. Carry on. Last summers GFB run to the Eastern Sierra resulted in body damage, :( , so may not be safe here either! Rick, happy to line out some great trails around Mammoth that are more go fast ...
