Slappy Style Go Fast with Dana 44/50 hybrid beams....
Ok SO my Buddy Dave, I always talk about on here like he is my only friend is building this 1989 bronco....
He got her with a bad motor but running......first step motor swap smog.....check....done
Next step probation.....drive her around and make sure she is good to go before strip and build.
ok I would also like to give autofab Timmy a big thanks for his help with my build and Dave's
Step one
Front Dana 44/50 extended beams and radius arms……8 lug big everything…. 3bolt 3rd member 4.88 gears
Single swinger steering……he is doing mine as well…thanks Dave
Hummer Wheels and 37 projects
3.0 Kuster and 2.5 bump stops
Engine cage set up so you can tie in the main cage from the cab
Rear
Dirt tech Housing full floater 8 lug 35 spline axles Currie case spool 4.88 gears
3 link
3.0 kuster and 2.5 bump stops
Hummer wheels 37 projects
Fiber glass all around
He has not made a decision on cage yet like all of us budget will make that call……but everything will be built with that in mind

Re: Slappy Style Go Fast.....
Ok here we go guys......by the way Dave builds thing tough so if it looks over built to you.....it maybe...... but not in his eyes....That’s his style keep all 4 wheels on the car at all time…..and foot to the floor
It is set up to have the 44 from the left of the pumpkin to the pivot. it bolts up to the stock bronco/f150 4x4 pivot point on the frame on sides with both beams they are about 5 over per side due to the Hummer wheels he is using......started off at 2.5 / 3 but the wheels are deep off set so he extended the beam out a little more.
Beams are built strong and can use 44 or 50 center section. This is not just a scabbed on outer and knuckle it is a total reconstruction off the beam…..It can also be set up to run the 44HD outers with lower ball joint mods as well….44hd and 50 beams are a different spread were the outer are…not a lot but just enough…the 50 also have a thicker lower were the cut and turn is done…….
Note....if you were to use Dana 44HD it can be drilled to 5 on 5.5 the Dane 50 I think you would have to go 6 on 6.5 Trophy Truck....this is if you did not want the 8 lug stuff
I am feeding you info second hand from Dave teaching me and showing me he can explain a lot better…..so let’s look at cool stuff

I see alot of people welding to the stock knuckles. I assumed they were a cast piece? Are they actually forged? How are people getting away with that?

I think they are cast but can't say for sure as I haven't meesed with many other than ripping them off trucks & just selling them.
If they are cast, pre heat, weld with a high Nickel rod (stainless works well), post heat & slowly cool.

You can use high nickel or stainless rod with preheat/post heat to weld to them.
You can also use silicon bronze and braze to them I think.

I've uses silicone bronze & TIG welded on cast before & it seemed to hold. It was not in a high impact/stress area though so I can't say how well it actually works.
