Re: Joxracing's Newbie F-150 build, Homemade long travel or bust
Wooo!
Got her mostly tied up today, and drove it for the first time in a long while. Couldnt get to any dirt though, which sucks. plus im leaving for NYC tmrw for a whole week, so i have to leave the truck home.
heres some pics of it in the sunlight..
Im kinda proud. haha. Plus, I found this gem while walking around my neigborhood junkyard... I will be using this now...

this is an amazing truck you've put together, It really shows that this is possible even with a highschool budget. Hopefully soon enough I'll start on my own. but this has been one of the few threads that Ive followed

Way to go! Setup the rear and you'll find that truck will do anything you want within reason. Keep it up!

You'd be shocked on what a set of shocks will do for the rear.

yeah i know, thats what i need.
I was looking at the Dotsch (?) Tech shocks in JBG, those were pretty reasonable for now...
or the Bilstein 5100's

Re: Joxracing's Newbie F-150 build, Homemade long travel or bust
Did a little bit of work today, threw some lights behind the grill, and bought 4 KC's and a stock bumper from my buddy. just waitng for him to get me those so i can really go out and put this thing through the paces...
I have some questions, when i put my truck into 4x4, there is a clicking like sound, and it sounds like its coming from my dash... I cant seem to figure out what this is?
axle joints?
the faster i drive, the more the "clicking" speeds up.

could be your u joints from a bad pinion angle or just worn out, could be your hubs/bearings are bad, could be warped discs, something in the third member might be bad such as your pinion bearing.

Took this thing on a 15 minute ride after i finnished the hillbilly limit straps.
The thing rides like a dream, soaked up the few whoops I had on the trail. Cannot wait to take it out friday.

Took if for a real shakedown run today, and we had a blast! nothing broke, but i think i might have bent the coil bucket? pics later, but we shot a lot of video, hopefully my buddy will have it edited by monday.
heres a teaser pic, real crappy cell phone pic... still looks sick. I need to shorten the limit straps up though...

Bent Bucket?
Any ideas on how to.. fix this? I think it affected the shock mount too.

If it were me I'd build some out of some 3/16 plate but thats hard work. Take a look around online you can find them. I also have a set if you want to work a deal. I personally would be afraid of bending it back because now you have a weak point.
