These are what they did on some of the 4wd converted vans. I think I've seen them on both Chevy & Ford

An interesting system that was used on some vans, as ChaseTruck754 noted. It also was tested in a few cars.

And to keep it Bronco-related, this system was initially considered as the replacement for the solid axle Dana 44 in the Bronco before the Twin-Traction Beam was invented.
