Steering Column Replacment

Post by Kartman »

The stock tilt column in my 88 is very loose and needs to go.

Looked at Flaming River but they have nothing for FORD and want to avoid fabbing mounts and such.

Any other good aftermarket solutions out there that are made to drop into a Ford?

Drawbacks to replacing with stock?

If it makes a difference there is no shifter on the column anymore.

Mounting a GM column is super simple as it clamps at the bottom like factory and only requires a a tab welded to the top. I put one in my F100 in about 1/2 hour.

As far as the factory column, do you use the tilt at all? Non tilt columns are far stronger.

FYI, 80-91 Columns all interchange and the 78-79 is close.

IdidIT makes a 78-79 column.

You coming to RATR? I have a 86 tilt parts column in a truck here. You can have it if you want it.
