Fuel situation in Mexico

Gas/diesel in Mexico
Don't head south any time soon. No fuel is available.
From Mexicali south there is a report that gas was available at Gonzaga and LAB nothing else. San Felipe ran out Sunday evening and no deliveries since.
On the west coast some found gas heading south. Many stations are closed. Crap shoot.
20% increase on Jan 1 and 8% more next month and the people are pissed and the station owners are afraid to buy more in case the government backs off on the price increase.

Yup was just talking to my dad about this yesterday. He lives down in Mexicali and said its crazy right now. No gas stations open, people looting stores, etc. They are protesting the government/ president since all he wants is the money. Saying the government pays so much to fix the roads but they just charge everyone to drive on them (toll roads). My dad said they might start knocking them down to ease up some of the tension that is going on.

Sucks because i'll be heading to Rosarito Saturday but i'm going to fill up in San Diego before crossing over and I will be ok.

Wow. That's nuts, Paul. Thanks for the info. How are you managing the fuel situation? Doing OK?

The SF150 race came off just fine and all the stations got fuel in time. Only early preruners had to wait for gas.
No issues at this time. All the San Felipe stations have both grades of gas and diesel.
The next price increase will be ~2/8 and there will probably be peaceful demonstrations at the Mexicali fuel terminal like first week of Jan. They prevented trucks from enter and leaving. Smaller price increase so, maybe shorter and smaller protests - maybe nothing?

Fuel price increase postponed 2 weeks
The liberalization of fuel prices, freeing them from government control, will be rolled out region by region over nine months beginning March 1.
If the price increase on the 1st is small then I guess the protests will be small?
Who knows?
