So i re-read this article from my collections of offroad magazines

http://www.fourwheeler.com/features/130 ... -2500-4x4/

Going to put 37s on the Superduty. It already has 2.5 Springs on the front and thats all the lift it will get.

Good luck with that, I have a 6in lift and in a turn with any kind of bump, it hits the inner fender. Over all it is a nice fit, but I still need to pull back the inner plastic fender wells. I love my 37" BFG Baja TA'S.

Yes, lots of cutting on the Ram body to make that work with 41.5" tires. For my taste in the 1999 body of my F350's, I hate the wider fiberglass and not a fan of cutting the body. As long as I have my running boards, I can still get in my truck, although the girls have fun in dresses getting in, My Bronco is hard for the ladies in dresses also. I have never been a big fan of high trucks, but a 6" lift gave me the clerence needed for the 35" without any modifications or cutting to chase in Baja. The 37's will require a little modification of the inner plastic fender well and when I need shocks, I may go to 3.0x12 fox shocks at each corner to taylor it better for the heavier wheel and tire combo.

Here is my 97 powerstroke I picked up for a baja tow pig. We are getting ready to install coils, hiemed radius arms, and our swing steer set up, beadlock wheels and tires as well. I got a screaming deal after looking for a obs ccsb powerstroke for many years at a reasonable price. I am currently in the process of cleaning it up.

That's killer! I wish they were the same lug pattern I'd pick up those old wheels.

I have 35s and they rub a bit in the inner fender. Ideally I won't go any higher in the fender just radius it better for the 37s. There is a lot of fender before you start running into the door. My buddy has a 6" travel King 3.0 that he is having issues finding a buyer. I've never looked at the travel numbers on these things but I wonder if I kick it back bit if a 6 could work. Haha not gonna be romping with this big pig but it would look cool

My last 2 superduties had 37s with minimal lift. White one had 4" deaver leafs Gray one had 4-5" lift. The only rubbed on the leaf themselves at full lock. It is all about wheel offset. Do not go wide wheel and you should be fine

No it is a factory short bed with TTB. It is a F-250 that someone put F-350 badges on. I'm the process of cleaning that up the only good thing they did to it was the winch and 4 captain chairs lol.

Ahh. The badges threw me off. I should expect that as one of my trucks has F650 badges.

Threw me off too. I looked & couldn't tell if TTB or solid axle. I kept looking back at the pics. Looked like a TTB but with the F-350 on the fender I figured it must have just been the pic throwing me.

Ford Diesel / Tow Rig section??

Post by Wrightracing.net »

I know this thread is a little old, but I was talking with a friend a couple months ago that just passed away and it reminded me of something he said about putting a ttb front suspension on my 1999 Diesel Superduty F350. I was wondering if a 8 on 170 hub will fit on the Dana 50 knuckles. I already have great rims, so I would love to keep them.

Also, what are your thought of going long travel ttb on my F350?

I have had the same thought for My 2000. I was looking at new wheel studs with a larger knurl. Then just putting the new pattern over the old one........ Downside is, TTB brakes are not all that compared to the 05 and up stuff. The other thought I had was taking an 05 axle, cutting off the C's and welding them into the ends of he beams. A little axle magic and your down the road.......

Ya, I hate the anti lock brakes on my truck. With the bigger tires the anti lock let's go to easy on a down hill slope. It makes me feel out of control sometimes. I am in no rush to do it, but it could be kind of cool to do. I would most likely do coil overs and make a heavy duty shock tower with a cross bar. That stuff is easy enough to fabricate. It would be nice to be able to bold up a 99 knuckles to the Dana 50 ends.

you guys obviously not having an issue with the unit bearings on the newer stuff vs. serviceable bearings on the pre 99 stuff?

It is a different spread from what I have been told for knuckles. We have a d50 knuckle design that a rock guy wanted to try and adapt to his rock racer but the spread was different he had super duty axles. But you can get d50 hubs blank and machine to your pattern of 8x170mm.

Thanks Brandon, that's what I thought would have to be done.

Steve; I have over 170k miles on the unit bearings, with big tires and thousands of dirt miles in Baja without an issue. I get it that they are not serviceable, but at under a $100 each the service life is not an issue. Heck, if I was worried I would carry a spare in my pit box. I probably should have anyways with running in Baja for the last 14 years.

Now it will break on my next trip, I know it... lol

Yeah, sorry to bring it up and jinx you...

I have not personally dealt with them, just read internet bitching & have a buddy with an '01 that was complaining about replacement cost a bunch of years ago now when they were closer to $200 a bearing, so I wasn't sure. Good to hear they aren't as much of a hassle as I thought.

My truck has been through several. You must be lucky David. There is a conversion to serviceable spindle hub set up from spyntech but it's $1800. I'd love to do it but it's a hard pill to swallow.

The TTB could be cool but it's still gonna be a big Ol girl. I'll leave the really driving to my bronco.
