Correct. Dyno pulls were done on my 35's as well. Ambient air temp was mid 60's

Re: Guess my hp/tq its Dyno day!
Thats really pretty impresive gains.
I had planned to do a very similar build to this but with a SD friendly cam.
My only thoughts are is there different variation and/or addition to get better gains in the TQ area.
Besides stroker haha

I know the numbers themselves arent super impressive but with 4.88's the Bronco moves around pretty good.

Re: Guess my hp/tq its Dyno day!
By internet/magazine numbers it not seam impressive but in the rear world almost 50% gain in HP is most impressive. You just need to add a some stickers and a spoiler and it will have 500hp hahaRyanDS650X wrote:Great question but i dont have an answer to it haha. Im curious as well. Re: Guess my hp/tq its Dyno day!
Everytime a Mustang owner or fan check out my '91 Notchback, they dig it and start talking about how much power their 5.0 is putting out. I always ask them if they've had it dyno tested and they say no but that the cold air intake promised 20HP and that the Flowmaster exhaust promised another 25HP gain. By simple math they think they're now at 270HP and if they've added a throttle body and headers, it's game over and they're at over 300HP.
When they ask what mine is putting out I always say I have now clue and just say, "Enough to have fun."

Figured I'd add to this thread.
Just had my bronco on the dyno this morning (87 degrees out) and have some numbers to share.
it's a 96 with the 351W, stock e4OD w punisher valve body
Stock bottom end
Edelbrock Performer intake
GT40 heads
Bassani shorty headers
1.7 ratio rocker arms
stock cam
custom y pipe by RPM, 2.5"
3" exhaust, Borla high flow cat and Borla muffler
UMP intake

Good job Steve does huh? For comparison, our 96 bone stock 5.8 @ 180K, using same Bassani headers w/ Swain Tech, same 3" RPM magic, UMP and a custom intake wye.

looking at Jim's sheet makes me think I wasted a lot of dough on parts lmao!RyanDS650X wrote:Looking at your guys dyno sheets leads me too believe im leaving alot on the table with my stock intake parts.
one thing that makes we wonder- what rear end is in your rig Jim?
from what I have read, the 9" rear sucks up more power in terms of parasitic drag than the 8.8", anyone have understanding of this?
Ryan, what rear end are you running?
From what I have gathered on EB sites, guys are claiming anywhere from 25-32% loss through the driveline. most of them running 9" and Dana 20 or NP205 transfer cases.
I had always been told 15% was a standard number for cars, so big heavy trucks w bigger tranny, rear ends and transfer cases should be higher.
Something engine builders and parts vendors are using as an alibi, or truth to it?

Re: Guess my hp/tq its Dyno day!
We're running a spooled 9 with 4.88 for the 37's. Though we have no prior dyno data to confirm it, I'd bet the big reason we're making this kind of power is due to the John Wood E4OD. Sounds kind of funny to say, but it feels "loose" like a manual trans.....almost like there's little to no parasitic drag.

Stock cam is really hurting you. The single UMP is also not doing you any favors.DMbronco wrote:looking at Jim's sheet makes me think I wasted a lot of dough on parts lmao!
A 9" has a greater pinion offset which makes for more tooth contact. This makes them stronger but also less efficient. They have something like 12% less efficiency than an 8.8, this will only make a 1-2HP difference on the dyno though.
If you want an instant bump in HP on a chassis dyno, bolt on some small street tires......................

Guess my hp/tq its Dyno day!
Need to get my Paxton Supercharger stocker on the dyno see what that's putting out. I trying to wait until the blower needs a rebuild because I already have pump, injectors and will be using an upgraded impeller for the rebuild. Will bring it from 6 to 9 psi and will have to be tuned at that point.
