Not well, but those are cool.95bronco12 wrote:I wonder how one of these pop up campers would hold up to some desert abuse.
If someone wanted to put the work into it, I think a FlipPac-style tent could work well on a Bronco top while retaining the structural integrity it provides. Of course, caging the truck would eliminate the need for it to be structural and if you planned it right, the cargo area could still lend itself well to camping in (through) it. The Wildernest shells are pretty cool, too.

Re: Tent
Be prepared to spend a very large chunk of change on that can. There called sport mobiles and can cost from 30k to well over 60k with all the bells whistles and custom upgrades. Get a motor home used and save a fortune. They are bad ass but just too pricey for the usable space. Sorry if I'm raining on your dream as I once had the same dream till I woke up lol.95bronco12 wrote:I spy my next tow VAN

Re: Tent
Bang for the buck its hard to beat the vw vanagon's and the westfalias. In a former life when I wanted to live the movie the endless summer I was seriously considering a westfalia. Then my DNA snapped me back to reality i got a pick up and went dirt biking and beer drinking.

Re: Tent
Westfalia owners are a special breed. They looooove their vans... something fierce! I used to work at a VW dealership and was amazed at the $$$parts orders$$$ people would place for those things. "Hi, I'd like to order EVERY coolany hose and pipe for my Westy.... $1200? No problem...."

Re: Tent
That's insane.. I'm mean its just a car. Only reason I liked em was the kitchen n tent. It was just less stuff I had to haul let alone dig through the rafters each time before camping. Thinking back I'm glad I didn't get one. Lord knows I could have ended up wearing pachuly oil and birks sitting in a drum circle hahaha

Steve is right! It's a special breed that I'm proud to belong to.

Re: Tent
More power to ya bro, but unless its big horse power or suspension parts I have a hard time justifying big dollars on an older ride. Well I guess hot rods, vw streeters n Bajas, and anything with long travel is justifiable for me. It makes perfect sense with you close to San onofre and all the good surf spots though, I'd have one if I still was chasing that dream I suppose. I miss those days, the world's stresses melted away when I paddled out. Ah the good old days.convoy wrote:Steve is right! It's a special breed that I'm proud to belong to.
